Day 10 #SeptemberThrills β€œHis body is marked worse than some of our top military leaders.” Sylen’s quiet thought slithered into Jamie’s mind. β€œThe first time I saw him, I could barely believe the harm a human enacted upon him.”

Day 10: #FantasyIndiesSeptember Rylen prefers knowledge over power as he believes knowledge is real power. Jamie just wants to know what's going on πŸ€£πŸ˜… he'll settle for someone bring him into the loop, please.

Day 9: #SeptemberWorldbuilders Mostly the same foods we have in real life. The Wastes have several fungi that are poisonous for humans and certain Benign races, but Ungovernable races can freely it them (if they wanted).
Good morning, #SeptemberWorldbuilders! In your fictional world, what plants or fungi are consumed? Do you have any vegan/vegetarian characters? What are some of their favorite meals?

Day 9: #FantasyIndiesSeptember Jamie wouldn't want any magic or superpowers, but that's because having magic or inhuman abilities that harm humans is despised in the Protectorate Nation. Rylen already has abilities that could be called superpowers, and he's happy with them πŸ‘€

Day 8: #FantasyIndiesSeptember Rylen liked school-ish. He pushed himself as he feared his adoptive parents would kick him and his little brother out if he didn't do well. His favourite class was music. Jamie felt apathetic toward school, but saw a point to doing well.

Day 8: #SeptemberWorldbuilders Sirens have a dish made of vegetables, potatoes and hearts (human). It's essentially a stew with a final ingredient that requires the blood of a deceased siren. The meal is only eaten during the passing of a beloved member of the community.
It's the second week of #SeptemberWorldbuilders and the theme this time is FOOD AND DRINK! Today's Q: Tell me about a local or cultural dish in your world. Is it made for special occasions? Bonus points if anyone makes me hungry πŸ˜‹

Review time!!!! Such an amazing book! I had some reservations initially as 1st person POV isn't my favourite to read, but I'm so glad I did. It didn't take long to push past the POV concern as the story drew me in right from the start. I love a good political thriller and-

was just a story. The characters were fully fleshed out and well-rounded that I couldn't get enough of them. I loved Haru's family and getting to know them (and the twist at the end... well, when you read it, you'll know). Worldbuilding wise, this book doesn't disappoint.-

Every aspect is incredibly thought out, and there was never a moment I questioned why something was included in the story. Great read, and I highly recommend it 😊

Day 7: #SeptemberThrills The sober version of Rylen is incredibly responsible. 10 years ago him is another story. Jamie is also responsible almost to a fault. He will not let go of responsibility well after it's time too (which can be a good thing πŸ‘€)

Day 7: #FantasyIndiesSeptember I didn't expect book 2 to be so hard for me to write. In order to get it down, I tapped into a part of myself that I keep closed off, but that was the only way I could get the raw emotions out for Rylen’s POV chapters.

The Wastes don't have seasons. The temperature remains constant and the only rain that falls is the upside down rain that acts as a barrier between the Wastes and the rest of the world. When you enter the Wastes, if there is no wildlife around, it seems like a frozen world.
Good morning, #SeptemberWorldbuilders! For our last question about seasons, tell me about the parts of your world that don't have the traditional four seasons. Do you have wet/dry seasons? Or something else entirely different and fantastical?
