Stop looking at D2 & D3 opportunities as settling, because you think your a D1 prospect.

Thank you @CoachBuus for all the time and effort you have put into us athletes this offseason. Nobody hears about all the unseen hours of your work! We are blessed to have you. #Gogovs

A look at @GoJacksFB’s Carter Sitzman
The 6’4 275-pound DT has been unblockable at practice
I’ve been told he runs his 40-yard dash in the 4.6s
The transfer from Wayne State may be a problem this season in the MVC

Sports parents, two cooks in the kitchen never works.
There is NO reason to have two strength trainers for your child.
You will 1) overuse when programs overlap and 2) CONFUSE when they hear two different things from two people.
Pick one.

In season strength and speed is where the real work begins.
And no parents, it's NOT OVERDOING if your girls workouts are written by an accredited professional who understands proper exercise selection, dosing and load management. Your strength coach will write workouts that *SUPPORT* her weekly practice and game load.
Overdoing it would actually be if you do ZERO hours of strength training (or random leg workouts at the Y 🤣 ) and you only do your 12+ hours a week of soccer practices and games ( soccer movements like running cutting and decel actually break down the muscle and degrade the ACL).
You need strength movements and athletes to get in other positions so they continue to stay resilient!
We’ve jumped on the OVR sprint timing train for the summer.
Here are some numbers for 15 yard lead fly 10s for us. Decent, but always improving.
Best HS Boy: 1.02 (20mph)
Best HS Girl: 1.10 (18.5mph)
Best MMS Boy: 1.13 (17.9mph)
Best MMS Girl: 1.25 (16.3mph)

A reminder to all S&C coaches…
Just because another coach does things differently to you, that doesn’t necessarily mean either of you are wrong.
Don’t be insecure & attack someone because they do things differently to you. Ask questions. Have a discussion, not an argument.

if your son is playing 7 on 7 all summer and not training, hes wasting the most important 3 months of his football career.
7 on 7 doesnt make you faster.
it doesnt make you stronger.
it doesnt make you more explosive.
thats not progress…

STOP wasting time on circus gimmicks for “balance” training.
Bosu balls, wobble boards, and band tricks look cool on Instagram but do almost nothing for real game-contact stability
In sport, forces come from opponents while your feet interact with a stable ground

Here’s what actually builds usable stability, coordination, and reactive power instead👇
We aren’t “influencers” we are coaches. Put the phone down and coach. Our jobs are to get athletes better, not collect likes and shares.

If you coach a spring sport and the last time they saw the S&C was December, you can’t blame the S&C for your team being “weak” or not “explosive”.
It’s 2026, all athletes MUST train year-round.
Especially if you have a qualified S&C!

You might have been able to launch a less embarrassing argument 20 years ago that middle/high school volleyball players need “sport-specific” training.
At that point in history there WAS an actual offseason for many.
In today’s climate of year round play - surely it’s parody to assert they need stupid stuff like setting or building a passing platform against a band in place of building strength in basic movement patterns they’re wildly deficient in.
You don’t think the 9000 reps of sport skills a week are sufficient?

A surprising number of Jackrabbits are former QBs, including edge rusher Carter Sitzman, who transferred from Wayne State. Sitzman talks how that helps him on defense as he looks to make the jump from the NSIC in this episode of ‘Jacks Chats’.

HS sports:
Lifting with your team 2x/wk in the off-season doesn’t always guarantee you will win a title. It just increases your likelihood of success.
But not training with your team 2x/wk in the off-season almost always guarantee that you will not win a title. It wildly decreases your chances of success.

No, it’s not the two, 25-30 minute weight room sessions a week where athletes encounter force in a controlled environment hurting your volleyball player’s back.
It’s the:
-10+ hours a week of practice with bad mechanics on bad surfaces
-Random running
-No days off mentality
-Lack of nutrition and sleep to facilitate recovery
But go on and get that 2 weeks no weight room full go on court note as the injury carousel takes another turn.
