Coinbase wants bitcoin's quantum fix started now. Coinbase holds about 5% of all bitcoin for clients. Its blog post says a quantum computer could one day derive private keys from public keys. Google researchers say such a machine could exist by 2029. Coinbase wants flexible address formats and a backup quantum resistant key, and wants the lost coins debate handled separately. Why the XRP bug stayed hidden for 11 years. The flaw could have let an attacker create new XRP, against a fixed supply of 100 billion. The XRP Ledger Foundation says normal activity never came close to triggering it. It took hundreds of deliberately built operations. The ledger's own checks missed it too. Ethereum now lets you pay for AI privately. The Ethereum Foundation and the Open Anonymity Project launched zkAPI on mainnet. You deposit funds into a vault, then prove you can pay without showing who you are. The AI provider and the payment server can't tie a request to a payer.
