Tomorrow brings the first Genesis Sandbox preview for Charter holders, but I'm honestly just as curious about Cambria Checker.
After all these seasons, seeing our journey reflected in actual numbers should be pretty interesting.

at @playcambria, almost all of our time on gamedev now is spent on the actual design + iteration of game systems. the implementation in code is now almost an afterthought (even with a custom game engine). esp if you have a solid / well architected core codebase (claude gets better the higher quality the base).
game design and nailing the intangible "fun" is still really fking hard though and claude helps less than you think. more evident now than ever that it was never about building the game itself (see: any oneshot / slop game).
pixel art is also still hard to scale.
Another key points here is that a big issue with gaming was the pace of iteration and shipping compared to other parts of crypto.
New tools up the shipping speed tremendously.
Rather than dropping a vision and an NFT mint, you can have the game playable during the mint, on the day of reveal, or very shortly after.
People raised billions to try and take down @AxieInfinity saying it would be easy with tremendous hubris.
Then the majority of these gave up right before a huge breakthrough in technology. Others like @Moku_HQ @AngryDynomites @yakkamon_game @RonkeOnRon @playcambria @onchainheroes @0xCitadel @PlayChickenSaga @PlayCalamity chewed glass to stay around and relevant for the turning of the tide.

Charter Trait docs are live! Reveal tmrw at 11am ET

TGE and Genesis
The team is coordinating TGE timing with partners and preparing the airdrop. The token is planned to launch on Aerodrome on Base, with Genesis following right after TGE.
Reveal and testnet
Charter reveal is set for October 17. Testnet is expected next week, with access for all Charter holders.
Viceroy Charters
Capped at 500 NFTs. Ben compared their holders to administrators. Focus is on exclusivity and collectible value - no specific extra utility promised yet.
Regular Charters
Allow passive participation in the economy through guilds and the Merchant Fleet. After the reveal they get traits (house, profession). Total Charter supply will gradually increase.
Economy
Players buy energy with USDC → risk resources in PvE and PvP → exchange earned silver back into USDC. In-game fees flow into the Treasury to support the economy and RSGP.
Long-term
@playcambria has been in development for ~3 years. Ben says the project is only about a third of the way to the full vision. Genesis aims to shift from separate seasons to a persistent MMO with regular updates.

Physically here. Mentally already in Cambria Genesis
Cambria has claimed my last two brain cells.
One is replaying past adventures. The other is preparing for:
• Thorin’s Peak, a new city in the T4–T5 zone
• Expanded core gameplay loops: extract, trade, deploy
• Founding Charters, a new NFT collection with in-game utility
• An upgraded Treasury system
• New NFT assets: building Deeds, craftable Heirlooms and Legendary gear
• Multiple playable characters
And this is only the beginning.
Genesis coming.

Why does minting a Charter from @communitybria take so long? 👀
I think it’s part of Cambria’s strategy.
Every wallet is manually checked before mint access.
Most are OG players who were active during the game’s testing phase.
Almost no random flippers.
I can officially say I became Viceroy #120 in Cambria Genesis
Really happy to secure one of these. Another piece of Genesis locked in.

The first Viceroy Charters are now in players’ hands
The first stage of the Cambria Charter mint took place today at 0.06 ETH. The highest sale so far is 0.21 ETH.
Interesting to see this much activity right from the start.

The full details of those House privileges and responsibilities are still something I’m waiting to learn more about.
I’m especially curious about how they’ll work in Genesis itself.
