@DanaBashCNN traveled to San Francisco to sit down with the @DanielLurie. He's focused on public safety & business development...and has approval ratings in the 70's.
@FareedZakaria recently told us that Lurie was a rare example of a Democratic leader who's doing a good job leading a blue city.

.@repevertonblair is the newest member of the House of Representatives. He's also Georgia's first openly gay member of Congress.
"I'm the son of Jamaican immigrants. I'm a former educator. I'm young. I'm black and I'm openly gay at a time when so many of those identities are under assault. It's not lost on me the historical nature of this moment.
But I also came here to work...to make sure that no one feels neglected, undermined and vilified."

We're delighted to announce that @madrid_mike (SFS’97) has agreed to serve as a senior advisor to the Initiative on Catholic Social Thought and Public Life, with a special focus on helping us grow our Latino Leader Gatherings. Mike is one of the few political consultants in the country who has transcended party lines, working for major campaigns on both sides of the aisle. Mike shares a deep commitment to dialogue and the principles of Catholic social teaching and we're thrilled to work more closely with him!

Other members of the Kennedy family in attendance included former Representative Joseph P. Kennedy III, who sits on the Senior Advisory Committee, and Victoria A. Reggie Kennedy, a former ambassador to Austria and the widow of Senator Edward M. Kennedy ’54.
I love this truth about Teddy. And he so loved you and John, whose notes I still have. The best of America… gone for now. But we must still strive for a country worthy of them and our best ideals.
A special moment last night at the @HarvardIOP
“To give you some idea of what the IOP means to our family, my uncle Teddy, who was not even the chair, did not miss one meeting in 47 years, and he took attendance of the rest of us,” [Caroline] Kennedy said. “He didn’t do it because he wanted control. He did it because he cared.”
Kennedy also praised her brother, John F. Kennedy Jr., who she said “was ahead of his time in recognizing that politics, popular culture, and energy were converging.” She noted that the IOP was “the first of its kind” and has inspired more than 50 similar institutes in the U.S. and abroad.
“Today, this is still a living memorial for President Kennedy, the one he probably would have most enjoyed,” she said.

History lesson: House democratic judiciary chairman Peter Rodino hired 2 GOP lawyers to lead the Nixon watergate probe. The vote to impeach was bipartisan. The Supreme Court voted 8-0 to turn over the White House tapes. GOP senators Barry Goldwater & Hugh Scott told Nixon he would be convicted so he resigned. As Pres Ford said, our long national nightmare was over.
