I think my workaholism is impacting my ADHD. Mine is like:
Put 20 projects in your portfolio and rotate through them like a mad man.
Work on 3 computers and 6 monitors at the same time because these top of the line machines are too slow.
My troubles with debt stem from my total lack of understanding of debt. I thought:
1. Student loans were like a mortgage. You just had them.
2. Loans help you do stuff faster.
It never occurred to me to accelerate pay off of the $25k from undergrad. It also never occurred to me to not rack up more debt.
All I knew was I was miserable, and loans were the way out.
I figured, I'll get a job, and pay them off. Simple. Done it before.
Here is a link to the actual interview.
"Hey kid." 😆

I once heard Mark Hamill talk about STAR WARS at a panel, and he said during A New Hope they shot the film out of order, so he was extremely particular about the continuity of the movie. While filming, he realized in the previous scene they shot much earlier they were just in the wet garbage compactor, but now, moments later, his hair would be dry. So he leaned over to Harrison Ford, worried about how his hair should actually be wet, stating mistakes like that would take people completely out of the movie.
Harrison Ford turned to him and dryly said, "Look, kid, if they're watching this movie and looking at your hair we're all in big trouble."
I've been working to pay my loan since 2011. Nothing I can do.
I screwed up by trying to fix my entire life. Then 2017 happened, and I focused on the loans which was also wrong because I took my eye off other problems.
I've spent ~65% of my adulthood unemployed. WTF?
BREAKING: The Trump administration is reportedly preparing to pursue wages and benefits of borrowers with defaulted federal student loans, per Forbes.
The Education Department is working with the Treasury Department to hire private debt collection agencies.
Borrowers in default may face administrative wage garnishment of up to 15 percent of their earnings without a court order.
I discovered play throughs of old games on YouTube. It's been a bit disgusting to learn things I never knew about. 😅
Anyway, you can beat Kung Fu in 12 minutes flat. Don't know how much the game cost at the time, but it doesn't seem worth it to buy.
I missed dinner yesterday so I stopped at Wendy's. I got a simple burger, fries, and a soda. That's it.
$9.78
You gotta be kidding me.
I understand now why people love their steady paychecks. Sad that it took so long to get it.
I never liked the idea that salary meant you didn't make more money if you worked harder.
I didn't understand the value of predictable stable income. It's necessary for budgeting.
My case worker doesn't understand why I'm uncomfortable getting veterans benefits.
It's not that I don't think I deserve it (I don't but that's a whole other thing), it's that for 30 years, I had no idea this stuff was available to me.
It's f**king disturbing.
I don't wanna seem ungrateful, but if the homeless shelter can afford tea, coffee hot coco, they can also probably afford whatever replaced Tang so I don't have to raw dog bare metal water for breakfast.
We did get Kool Aid for dinner, so that was nice.
“Homeless people don't wanna follow rules!’
Bro. If your house had as many rules as this homeless shelter, you'd lose your GAWDDAMN MIND!
Im a rule follower and I am STRUGGLING. So. Many. Rules. 😭
God is real story #2
A dude walks up and ask if I have easy access to food. I say yes, which is not really true. He walks off.
2 minutes later, a couple rolls up and hands me a full medium pizza. This is so wild, I reflexively look up at the sky suspiciously.
I remember in early 2000s, there were A LOT of web programming languages.
I think PHP is one of the few languages to survive that era. I guess being used for that long has consequences.
I'm just saying. Nobody is finding security holes in Perl...
After two years i was surprised to discover that a lot of my work has survived.
All my GitHub repos and the online books i wrote are still there.
Regardless of what happens, im prolly going to continue developing that work. I don't care if its been made obsolete by AI.
I know many of you followed me for tech data stuff. Im sorry, but that's just not the focus of my life at the moment.
I don't know if im gonna restart my tech career. I love data and analytics almost as much as I loved the idea of flying the F-15.
But I can't seem to turn that passion into a steady paycheck.
Been dreaming about driving a truck for a while. If I can't take my paycheck and go travel, maybe I can take traveling and turn it into a paycheck. Hey Mav! You still got the number of that truck driving school?
