PJ is such a class act. @Gaardsy gives him an opportunity to crow about his time management skills and PJ responds with a word salad on substitutions. Many coaches would have gone there but PJ wasn't going to disrespect Jed Fish.

The rule is that what everybody in the stadium sees is what is supposed to be honored - that's the officiating error - which means the game really did end with the incomplete Hail Mary pass and Western Michigan actually won - full stop.
