This is such nonsense, the left believe all identity is a subjective construct.
Ethnicity refers to a cultural ancestral heritage. It is a hard fact. If you are a second generation migrant you can adopt the culture of the country, but you cannot change your ancestral heritage. Mine will always be Sri Lankan Tamil.
You can debate about how far back your lineage should go: 5, 10, 15 generations. But if you deny ancestry is bound to ethnicity, you deny the very concept of ethnicity.
