WVU HC Rich Rodriguez says Texas Tech will be the biggest challenge for his offense so far.

WVU HC Rich Rodriguez says they spent the bye week recruiting, getting healthy, resting and some preparing for Texas Tech. They also furthered player retention talks, too.

I know many WVU fans wanted Pitt as the team to add when adjusting the 2027 schedule, but it was logistically never going to happen. The articles about it were always pure speculation giving false hope, too. Pitt was never going to want 11 P4 games. WVU was never going to play one fewer home game and play it in Pittsburgh since last one was in WV either. WVU scheduling Purdue at home is proof of that.

WVU AD Wren Baker on adding a home game with Purdue to the 2027 schedule: “We are looking forward to hosting Purdue in Morgantown next season for the first time since 1995. It is an important addition for us, because it now gives us 10 Power 4 games on our schedule, which is a requirement in the expanded College Football Playoff. It also gives us a regional Big Ten opponent visitng Milan Puskar Stadium, which I know Mountaineer Nation will be excited about. With the addition of Purdue, we will have further announcements on our 2027 schedule as we finalize everthing in the coming days.”

WVU HC Rich Rodriguez says he believes the defense will continue momentum based on how engaged they’ve been and how they appear in practice. He said his biggest issue with the poor play during the losing streak is they weren’t fundamentally sound.

I get some fans were nervous during the slow start, but it was opening night. Overall, WVU ended up with a 45-point win, they held Niagara to only 16 points in the second half and Miles Sadler was one assist away from starting his college career off with a double-double. Full disclosure, I voted WVU way higher at 6. And based on the money spent, recruiting win of Miles Sadler and Hodge being in year two with a program who expects the NCAA Tournament, WVU has to exceed the preseason poll prediction in order for the season to be a success.

I hear he recently moved to Philadelphia and is a high-ranking executive working with LeBron James!

Gotta wonder where Hawkins would be if not for the defense causing a losing streak. RGIII did win it with a 9-3 record for a non conference champion, but WVU would have to win out to even make that happen.
