Can Anthropic, Microsoft, Apple, Google, and OpenAI all get in a room for 30 minutes and figure out how to solve the issue of how to book a meeting between two companies? AGI and yet free/busy status is an impossible mountain to climb? Why?
(And no, booking links don't solve)
From all I can tell, Trump's "deal" just restores the status quo that existed before this debacle
So what was accomplished? Billions spent, zero policy aims met. The only thing that seems to have been accomplished is Iran making the US look like fools
It's **impossible** to make foolproof model guardrails using LLMs. This has actually been scientifically proven and published by OpenAI themselves. Sacks knows this, he's not that ignorant. What the Whitehouse wants is impossible. So, you have to pull it totally. Liability 101.
I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true:
— As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable.
— Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.)
— A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused.
— In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.”
— In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety.
— In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community.
— The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority.
— Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.
We have had widely available cheap AI now for almost 6 months.
So why does so much software still suck?
Anyone else find it weird how much @claudeai
with Opus 4.8 all of a sudden likes to use the term "money shot"? Like... really?
I do not understand why frontier AI companies are still wasting time and resources on training .
The nut that needs to be cracked is memory and incremental learning. Current models are already more than smart enough if they didn't have the working memory of a goldfish.
Dear @gmail
All the AI focus is great but can you PLEASE JUST ADD ability to insert a booking link into the mobile app composer?
Thank you for the attention to this matter.
Does the insecurity and vanity ever stop with this guy?
Breaking news: Trump administration officials have pressed the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring the president’s portrait, in what would be the first appearance of a living person on U.S. currency in more than 150 years. wapo.st/4dQNsGj
One of the most important things you can ever learn in life is the meaning of value, and how little it has to do with cost. Teach this to your children early, the same way you teach them basic finance, and they will do OK.
The @claudeai mobile app is great but the frequency with which you lose sync to or access to your remote session is bonkers. Does Anthropic not know how keep alive works?
The open-core business model is dead.
The only question is if the open-source projects that rely on it will figure it out in enough time to pivot their revenue stream.

I understand none of this matters for people using Gemini for coding etc, but Google needs to remember they have 100x other consumer-level potential customers they are forgetting about, they will not sell people whatsoever on paying for Gemini until they fix this. (6/6)
Most ppl. do not understand the ramifications of picking these models - when should I pick "Fast" vs Fast-Lite" vs "Pro" vs "Thinking", and, why do I care? I am an expert in all of this and even I do not know the full answer - imagine the avg. person. It's Ridiculous. (4/7)
