This entire situation is years in the making. France built an immigration system that allowed almost unlimited unvetted migration. They overwhelmingly refuse to deport even those who come there illegally. They did nothing about the domestic radicalization that followed. Their black bloc left-wing radicals gladly partner with the religious radicals coming in. The left-wing French government focused on delivering global lectures to everyone else while doing nothing to address their own problems. Now the bill has come due. The “globalize the intifada” crowd has decided to do what they do. The protest cause was just an excuse. France is hardly alone. The UK and several other European countries have the same problems. It’s only going to get worse until they start to take it seriously and refocus on solving these issues. If they won’t, then their entire society will suffer. There are thousands of French citizens that are seeing their lives upended because their government failed them. It will soon become millions. And same will be true of other western countries.
