Here’s the truth: You can have a polished app, strong tokenomics, and a flawless UX, but without people around it giving feedback, testing features, and spreading the word. you’re building in a vacuum. And there's no way you're going to succeed with whatever it is you're building. So, how do you build both product and community together in a way that supports long-term growth? Here’s a simple framework: 1. Build with, not for, your community Before you launch, start gathering people who care about the problem you’re solving. Share your vision early. Let them test your product in its raw stages. Run community polls, take in their feedback, and reward their involvement. The goal is to make them feel like co-founders, not just end users. 2. Speak in stories, not specs Users don’t connect with “features,” they connect with solutions and emotions. Don’t just talk about what your product does, talk about why it matters. For example, instead of saying, “we built a decentralized verification layer,” say “we’re making it possible to prove you're human in a world full of AI bots.” 3. Create rituals, not just announcements Good communities are active. Great communities have culture. Host weekly calls, celebrate milestones together, shout out active members, and make space for fun from meme contests to alpha drops. These rituals create identity and a sense of belonging. 4. Keep the feedback loop alive, Like I said earlier that your community isn’t just an audience they’re part of the build process. Run AMAs, open feature voting boards, and make your roadmap visible. When people see that their voice directly shapes the product, they become loyal evangelists. These teams get it. Despite already having strong, working products, they continue to double down on community-building. Take Solana: It consistently supports builders through hackathons, grants, events, and active community engagement from founders joining Twitter Spaces to making regular community updates. Look at Hyperliquid: Even with its solid tech and active user base, the team frequently interacts on X, joins community calls, and amplifies ecosystem builders. Succinct Labs and Billions Network both exemplify community-involved growth. From testnet feedback sessions to ecosystem onboarding, they engage users every step of the way. And of course, Ethereum is the blueprint despite its massive success, core contributors still support new projects, show up to AMAs, drop into comment sections, and build alongside new devs. Now imagine if they didn’t do any of that, no spaces, no presence, no support. The growth and adoption they’ve achieved wouldn’t exist. The product alone would not have been enough to pull things through or even this far. But at the end of the day, your product is the engine while the community is the fuel. In Web3, attention is currency and trust is gold. So, if you're only building code and ignoring people, you're setting yourself up to fail. Balance both. Build both. That’s how good products become movements.
