Quenton Nelson needs to be a Seattle Seahawk before the trade deadline. John Schneider needs to get on the phone with Ed Dodds, beat Kansas City to the punch, and explore what could become the offensive equivalent of the Leonard Williams trade. I genuinely believe this could be one of the most impactful moves Seattle makes during its championship window. And the circumstances are almost eerily similar to 2023. THE LEONARD WILLIAMS BLUEPRINT In 2023, Schneider identified an opportunity to acquire an elite interior defensive lineman from a struggling Giants organization. Williams was 29, approaching free agency, and available at a point when New York had to start thinking about its future. Seattle surrendered a second-round pick and a future fifth, with New York absorbing much of the remaining salary. Schneider wasn’t simply buying a few months of production. He was acquiring a proven player he believed could become a foundational piece. Williams eventually signed an extension, became an indispensable part of Seattle’s defensive front, and helped anchor a Super Bowl championship defense. Now imagine applying that exact philosophy to the other side of the line of scrimmage. WHY INDIANAPOLIS SHOULD LISTEN Chris Ballard is gone. The Colts are 2-4. The organization is facing a potential change in direction, and Quenton Nelson is 30 years old, playing on an expiring contract. Nelson is still an exceptional football player, but Indianapolis has to consider the opportunity cost of retaining an expensive veteran if the next regime wants to rebuild. A trade could accomplish three things: 1. Recover premium draft capital before Nelson reaches free agency. 2. Create additional financial flexibility. 3. Give the next GM another valuable asset to accelerate the construction of a younger roster. This doesn’t mean Indianapolis HAS to trade him. It means Seattle should present an offer compelling enough to make them seriously consider it. And there’s another connection here that cannot be overlooked. ED DODDS AND JOHN SCHNEIDER Dodds spent a decade in Seattle’s personnel department, including years working alongside Schneider during the construction of the Seahawks’ original championship roster. He understands Schneider’s evaluation philosophy, how Seattle approaches roster construction, and what the organization values. Now Dodds is overseeing Indianapolis’s personnel decisions. That doesn’t guarantee a trade or a discount, but established relationships matter when negotiating complicated deals. If there’s an opportunity, Schneider should be among the first people making that call. WHY THIS COULD TRANSFORM SEATTLE’S OFFENSE Seattle already has the foundation of a very good offensive line. Charles Cross at LT. Grey Zabel at LG. Abe Lucas at RT. But the interior remains an area where Seattle could meaningfully raise its ceiling. Here’s what makes Nelson particularly intriguing. Nelson steps in at left guard, while Zabel’s positional versatility potentially allows Seattle to move him to right guard. Suddenly, you’re not simply replacing one starter with another. You’re potentially improving TWO positions through ONE acquisition. Cross, Nelson, Sundell, Zabel, Lucas. Think about what that could mean for this offense. Better interior pass protection gives Sam Darnold cleaner pockets and more opportunities to work through progressions without immediate pressure up the middle. Better interior run blocking creates more consistent movement at the point of attack, giving Seattle a chance to establish the physical rushing identity it has struggled to maintain. And perhaps most importantly, it gives Brian Fleury greater flexibility in how he attacks defenses. When you can consistently win inside, defenses have to respect your ability to run between the tackles. That creates opportunities for play-action, deeper developing routes, and more favorable situations on early downs. It isn’t just about making the offensive line better. It’s about removing limitations from the entire offense. THE CHAMPIONSHIP WINDOW Seattle is coming off a Super Bowl championship. This isn’t a team hoping to become competitive three years from now. This is an organization trying to maximize a roster that has already demonstrated it can win at the highest level. And we just saw how valuable Leonard Williams became when Seattle invested in a proven difference-maker instead of waiting for an uncertain draft pick to develop. The same principle applies here. If the acquisition cost is reasonable, and Seattle can establish a path toward an extension, a second-round pick for an established All-Pro could be an outstanding investment. Especially if that player helps stabilize multiple positions and improves the efficiency of the entire offense. The risk is real. Nelson is 30, the extension would be expensive, and moving Zabel would require an adjustment. But championship teams have to recognize when the potential return justifies taking that risk. THE BOTTOM LINE Indianapolis gets valuable draft capital and flexibility for its next chapter. Seattle gets an established All-Pro who could immediately change the complexion of its offensive line and help extend its championship window. Schneider already proved this strategy can work with Leonard Williams. Now he has an opportunity to explore doing it again, this time on offense. The front-office connection. The expiring contract. The organizational uncertainty. The positional opportunity. The championship window. It all makes too much sense not to investigate aggressively. The Seahawks continued to beat themselves
NFL Week 6 Deserved Margins! 5 stolen wins this week! Our Luck Rankings' Expected Scores model shows who got lucky/unlucky in final margin. If the bar is below the diamond the winning team got lucky to win by as much as they did. If it's above, they should have won by more.

Mhm that’s interesting 🧐 LEFT HAND UP
Per @BetMGM, the 49ers (-7.5) have attracted 75% of the tickets and 84% of the handle vs. the Commanders on Monday Night Football. Line has not moved.

Bears prioritized fixing the interior for their young QB and still reaping the rewards of that trade

Lots of calls should be made about Quenton Nelson. I’m interested to see his value if they make him available. 30-years-old and on an expiring contract. Joe Thuney (32 y/o at the time) went for a 4th rounder.

Holy shit…. The Philly doctors almost killed him!
Jalen Hurts will be out for the season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in his lungs.

Curious what A-Rich would cost Seattle…

That would get the run game going. Definitely would limit JSN volume although.

How embarrassing Dallas literally can’t get to anything with this same look GB is showing over and over again. WR’s aren’t winning, dak is seeing ghost. My god. Curious to see if the media keeps the same energy for Dak after two weeks of him being completely ass they do for Darnold

Ceedee has 6 targets… 2 catches. GP has one… Cowboys you might as well trade the guy if you’re going to play like this and let the QB who is a little ego maniac completely avoid your best player

Seattle has been bad offensively. The defense is still clearly the best in football to me. It will only improve if the offense allows it to and plays more complimentary. Run the get the backs healthy… consider a trade for one of the Colts guys at a discount and go from there

The Cowboys having 0 points at half vs this Packers D is quite remarkable. Try using your best player,,, Pickens

Caleb Downs lacks the physicality of a Witherspoon type of guy. Smaller too. Or at least plays smaller. Think they need to move him out of the nickel and play deeper and ball hawk.

Ahahahahah Dak! Pussy! Throw it to Pickens idiot

The only way this could work is if all the major 4 conferences agreed to a round robin type of schedule or system of the big dawgs
You think you bought access for the lesser thans. All you did was provide insurance to the big boys. Congrats, 24 Team playoff people.

Ever since Pickens yelled at Dak and hurt his lil feelings Dak has literally not looked his way. Dak has to let his ego get out of the way and throw the ball to the right natchup. Cisse is their best cover guy and looks to be matching up with Ceedee more than anyone else tonight. Dak is a lil embarrassing and egotistical.. has starred down Ceedee couple times since

Staring down Ceedee because you don’t like how Pickens is talking to you is probably not a smart move Dak! Throw him the ball. He’s getting their weaker DBs consistently

George Pickens is playing tonight Dak! Just so you know buddy

Getting spicy….. 🤣
Kyren Williams was asked why he thought the team couldn’t sustain the energy drive to drive. “Can’t tell you, bro. Probably because I’m not out there.”
