senior year i was the only white person in a 400 African diaspora class. One time the prof asked us to raise our hand if we thought OJ’s innocent and I tried to play it safe and raised my hand. But literally not one other hand went up so i had to defend OJ alone in a debate lmao

Umm…DON’T START WARS WITH NO AIMS AND NO PLANS TO GET OUT.
Ohio State owes that boy a refund.
JD Vance: "I see what Abdul El-Sayed says about the war in Iran. I see him criticizing decisions the president has made, the military has made. But fundamentally we are where we are. In my view, I'd like to know what's Abdul El-Sayed's solution for the problem we have right now? It's easy to criticize something that happened 7 months ago."

JD VANCE: The biggest reason why gas prices are so high is because when Joe Biden ...
DOKOUPIL: It's almost been two years. At a certain point it becomes your economy, not Joe Biden's economy

Vance attributed high gas prices mainly to ~20% US refining capacity lost under Biden, but EIA data shows ~5% net decline since 2020 peak (major drop pre-Biden; stable later). Prices spiked with 2026 Iran conflict.

Guy kills himself and people rush to find anything about Palestine to see if they should celebrate or offer condolences.
Aww of course RJ Mitte supported Palestine 😢♥️ before it was popular to do so

RJ Mitte died October 12 2026. Biographies, obituaries and his X account (@RjMitte) document only disability rights advocacy with no evidence of Palestine support. The images are mourning tributes from a clothing designer.

I watched Biden govern as the most progressive, pro-labor president of my lifetime by far while the left flank called him Republican-lite. And I watched the left flank once again ratfuck our nominee in the face of Trump 2.0. After Dobbs, Jan 6, promises of mass deportations, etc.

I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day.
And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.

I arrived at the conclusion that you agreed to an Atlantic podcast interview with me, then postponed, then cancelled, because that is exactly what happened. What, if anything, are you denying?
not sure how @jonathanchait arrived at this conclusion. i have invited him on my broadcast for a lively conversation. couldn’t make it on the atlantic podcast due to other scheduling issues. but i have publicly communicated that he has an open invite, since his first article

Hasan is surprisingly candid, so it’s confusing that so few in the media understand him at all. He does the “I just want everyone to have health care” thing and 99% of journos leave it there.
This article is extremely rare in that the author accurately describes Hasan’s goals.
As I prepared for the interview by researching his commentary, I realized that Piker is right to complain that the handful of frequently repeated controversial statements fail to accurately represent his worldview.
In fact, it’s much worse than those quotes suggest. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

Almost all of Israel’s neighboring countries have codified ethnic and/or religious national identities. The “we just don’t like ethnostates” line always rings hollow when one small country in the Middle East is the singular focus of this particular critique.

This is the dumbest analysis imaginable. Democrats lost because they re-nominated an 82 yo unpopular incumbent and when he had a health event on stage they replaced him w the unpopular VP they clearly had no confidence in. Voters didn’t like that she was a CA progressive, so she tried to shake that off by running a completely different campaign, but refused to distance herself from her unpopular boss. This left voters without a clear sense of who she was. She made a lousy VP pick that added almost nothing to the campaign. This is why she lost. Her ONE DAY with Liz Cheney is not. I didn’t consult for her campaign or advise it in any way, only said yes to helping when asked to moderate an event, because I desperately wanted her to win. Part of the reasons Dems struggle is they are unwilling to look facts about voters square in the face and love to pretend the world is different than it is. But you can’t win going forward if you can’t be honest about why your candidate lost. And if you’re looking to blame people for Trump winning, look no further than all the folks who couldn’t be bothered to vote for Kamala because she wasn’t pure enough for them.
Tim Walz says the Harris campaign chased the wrong voters — Dick Cheney Republicans: (Lever)
“It’s pretty hard to deny that one of our base was fractured — the American Jewish community and the Muslim community, over Gaza and the intolerable assault. In retrospect, we should have spent time there — not courting a nebulous group of Wyoming Republicans who weren’t going to vote for us.”
He is arguing the Cheney swing was a dead end — and the split over Gaza was the real problem.
The rest of the postmortem is just as blunt. Harris never broke from Biden — the DNC autopsy said the White House never positioned her to run her own race. Walz’s early “they’re weird” line got benched for a big tent with Cheney, Bernie, and Taylor Swift. And the party’s own report skipped Gaza and Biden’s age — the two fights that actually split the ticket.Did they lose the base trying to rent Liz Cheney’s?
