INSIDE ORIGINAL SIN — THE ARTWORK We wanted the front cover to be iconic — and it is. I even have it on my wall. The rear and inside photos were taken in London by the excellent @berniepurcellphotos. Big thanks to Bernie for his support. #TheBitterMass #OriginalSin

INSIDE ORIGINAL SIN #5 — THE LION TAMER: THE MUSIC I was heavily influenced by @carsonmchonemusic and her album Pentimento — its space, stereo field and beautiful emptiness. We brought that influence into The Bitter Mass sound. #TheBitterMass #OriginalSin

INSIDE ORIGINAL SIN #2 Why “Bobby”? Dom chose the name for the sound it makes in the first line. He wanted those first words to hit like punches. There’s a reason every detail matters. Listen to Original Sin EP: willowy-chimera-e050ec.netli… #TheBitterMass #originalsin

INSIDE ORIGINAL SIN #3 — YOUR ENGLAND: THE MUSIC A nod to the Philadelphia soul sound we loved on one of our previous releases, I’m Coming Back. Bass, brass, Hammond — and a sound we wanted to feel like summer. Your England — The Bitter Mass #TheBitterMass #OriginalSin

INSIDE ORIGINAL SIN #4 — AMONG GHOSTS: THE MUSIC Dreamy verses, six stacked vocals, a reggae-inspired chorus — then a darker middle 8 before harp, guitar & trumpet lift us out. That’s what I was going for. Among Ghosts — The Bitter Mass willowy-chimera-e050ec.netli… #TheBitterMass

INSIDE ORIGINAL SIN #4 — AMONG GHOSTS A song about being trapped by your past, and envying someone who seems free from theirs. As Dom puts it: “We’re all prisoners of our past.” Among Ghosts — The Bitter Mass #TheBitterMass #OriginalSin #AmongGhosts

INSIDE ORIGINAL SIN #3 — YOUR ENGLAND Dom wrote the lyrics during two rail journeys. He couldn’t reconcile the TV news with English countryside around him. Somehow, these two Englands exist simultaneously. Your England — The Bitter Mass #TheBitterMass #OriginalSin

INSIDE ORIGINAL SIN #1 The verses originally had a completely different melody. We left the original Hammond organ guide in the final recording. Listen closely and you can still hear it underneath. willowy-chimera-e050ec.netli… #TheBitterMass #OriginalSin
