This photo of a signboard taken at Mitunguu that was used on a post from Facebook about origins of the name Nkubu that I shared here led me to know @benhaggaio, the gentleman who took it. A selfless hero like several we have been seeing here lately going above and beyond to help Kenyans in need, fellow country people thay they didn't previously know. Ben Haggai Onyango is cycled across 47 counties in Kenya to raise funds for a 17-month-old Briella Mkala, who underwent a life-saving liver surgery in India, a baby who's family needs Ksh 5 million to cover her medical expenses, up to which point he has raised Ksh 3.2 million, with a deficit of Ksh 1.8 million. Ben has battled harsh weather, challenging terrain, and mechanical setbacks, having started his journey on October 15th in Migori County. Personally, I have found his unwavering determination as he pushes forward to complete this mission as something saintly. Ben doesn't know Briella personally, but he says her story moved him deeply as an active citizen and he felt compelled to act. He says that he learned about her through a friend of a friend and chose to cycle across Kenya to raise the funds as a personal initiative to save her life. With 3 counties to go, Ben is nearing the end of his journey, with the photo in frame 2 taken at Hola, his county number 44. He urges Kenyans to support Baby Briella’s Medical Appeal, saying that every contribution matters, and that together, we can save baby Briella’s life.
