The new BitKey is an easy changeover from the legacy BitKey
A great wallet for carrying small balances while traveling to bypass currency exchange when paired with CashAp
Thanks Joel for sending me sats to get one. Legacy device goes to my grandma now!

Bitkey has made Bitcoin hot.
Not because of the tech.
Because it’s beautiful, simple, and my wife actually wants it.

I always wanted to get a @Bitkey but never got around to do it so when @JoelBomgar sent me the sats to buy one I couldn't say no.
Here's my honest review:
The setup was extremely easy, took less than 5 minutes to go from opening the box to receiving my first sats, it's definitely the easiest hardware wallet out there.
The UI is world class, I could give this to my mother and she would have no problem setting it up.
The lack of a seed can be disorienting at first, but it made me question how much security we actually gain by forcing people to secure both a hardware device and a piece of paper containing 12 words. Probably not much.
Yes, there's a level of trust that you need to place in the bitkey team, but as we have seen from the colcard saga unless you build the wallet AND the software yourself, there's always some trust somewhere.
In short, bitkey should probably be the first step in your self-custody journey.

POV: you discover a Bitcoin hardware wallet that is 100% normie-proof 🤯
EXTREMELY easy to set up (5 mins)
There really is no way to mess anything up
Great tool for on-boarding newbies to self-custody
10/10 would recommend 👌🏻
Thanks @JoelBomgar
After giving away 250+ free @Bitkey this month, I am discontinuing this offer. The primary reason for the discontinuation is that I will be too busy to manage Twitter messages for the next few weeks, and this offer is also getting a bit expensive for my bitcoin stash.
I do not anticipate launching a third round, so from here on out, if you need a @Bitkey, just buy one! It is very much worth it!
I hope the 250+ people that got a free @Bitkey will review it on their channels, because it’s the most amazing bitcoin product ever!!!

One by one the @Bitkey team continues to go the extra mile to address each and every concern of the community.
This video from @clay_garrett shows how a customer continues to unilaterally control their funds even in the event of @BitcoinatBlock disappearing

Unpopular opinion: word choice isn't the hardest problem we should be solving in self-custody right now
Unpopular Opinion: We should rename “Bitcoin hardware wallets” to “Bitcoin signing devices.”
It’d fix so many problems in understanding for Bitcoin beginners and make it evident why a passphrase is needed.
Everything is a @SeedSigner with extra steps and tradeoffs.
