Kaspa v2.1.0 is out [Link in the reply]
All node, mining, and infrastructure operators across mainnet and testnets are strongly encouraged to upgrade.
This release introduces P2P Protocol Version 11, extracts a standalone ZK SDK, and reflects an ongoing focus on proactive defense-in-depth across the node architecture.
Key Highlights:
• P2P Protocol Version 11 & Chunked IBD: Large Initial Block Download (IBD) payloads (including Pruning Point Proofs, headers, and trusted data) are now streamed in 20 MiB chunks. This eliminates message-
framing bottlenecks and timeouts during node sync, backed by overall safety limits and transfer timeouts, while maintaining full backwards compatibility with Protocol 10 peers.
• Standalone ZK SDK: Zero-Knowledge proof and script-generation tooling has been extracted into a dedicated crate (kaspa-txscript-zk-sdk). It adds support for RISC Zero Groth16 and STARK verifier generation
with dynamic or static image IDs, bounds control proofs against oversized inputs, and resolves cross-platform build issues.
• General Hardening: Comprehensive defense-in-depth upgrades across the node, including stricter P2P message and block limits to guard against DoS vectors, a workspace-wide arithmetic safety audit to
eliminate overflow risks, enhanced stratum bridge stability, and tighter consensus validation.
These structural safeguards significantly strengthen node resilience and provide higher confidence in overall network security.

you can transact without needing anyone’s approval. devs can build assets and contracts with rules the network itself enforces.
miners compete to produce blocks through computing power and electricity, not the size of their KAS wallet.
an attacker trying to undo a confirmed transaction has to compete against the combined mining power of the entire honest network while it keeps mining. even then, they can’t make nodes accept transactions that break the rules.
kaspa includes and orders blocks mined in parallel, so miners blocks aren’t discarded simply for losing a race. those frequent blocks let the network reach agreement in seconds while keeping bitcoin’s proof-of-work security principles.
kaspa calls this real-time decentralization.

Argent helps devs build applications from multiple Kaspa covenants.
Each covenant has its own rules. Devs use Argent to define how they work together, then turn that code into contracts that run on Kaspa’s L1.
Several contracts can make changes in one transaction.

Finally, Silverscript v1 is out [Link in the reply]. This completes the journey we started eight months ago with Toccata — it's finally possible to write human- (and AI-) readable smart contracts on Kaspa.
This language started simply as "CashScript with loops", but eventually grew into a full-fledged smart contract language capable of expressing complex, stateful contracts. It's always fun to look back at the first token mechanism @IzioDev and I worked on using raw opcodes, which took thousands of lines of code, and see the same thing implemented in just 60 easy-to-read lines of Silverscript.
I'm excited to explore the possibilities of UTXO programmability together with the Kaspa community, and this is only the beginning - Silverscript will evolve, Argent will add higher layers of abstractions, and I'm sure more people will find their own way of extending this new ecosystem.

Miners are the computers that add transactions to the network. If one leaves yours out, another can still add it.
It’s called censorship resistance, and on Kaspa it works within seconds.

The intern has been informed that yesterday’s post about Covenants needed an ELI5.
The intern has also been asked to stop using the words “successor” and “lineage” until further notice.
So we are going to use noughts and crosses.
state = what the board looks like right now
covenant = the rulebook
transaction = someone trying to make a move
the kaspa network = the referee
Look at the empty board. Nothing has happened yet. That is the starting state.
Put an x in the middle. the board has changed. that is the next state.
Now someone tries another move. The network checks it against the rulebook. If the move is allowed, the board changes. If it is not, the transaction fails.
The rulebook does not disappear after one move. The new board stays protected by the same rules, so the move after that has to follow them too.
One starting board can also open game A and game B.
Each game keeps its own board. both can continue without waiting for the other.
This is the noughts and crosses version. The same pattern can be used for vaults, escrow, time locks, asset issuance, transfer rules, tickets and positions directly on the Kaspa L1.
If that still made no sense, the intern accepts full responsibility and no follow up questions.

A Kaspa covenant can split one state into many successors, creating parallel lineages for games, tickets, positions or asset state.
Each covenant successor carries the same covenant ID and can progress independently on the L1. Those lineages can merge or coordinate when needed.
For everyone wondering I'm still in kaspa:native, nothing changed.
I do believe it will make a new ATH in the next bull run.
Developing disruptive technology like what Kaspa is building takes time and the signs I'm seeing are still good and in the right direction.

kaspa:native most interesting development in 2026 isn’t another speed milestone 👀
It’s what the network is starting to do with that speed.
Last year, @kaspaunchained took its mainnet to 10 blocks per second: a pretty serious statement for a Proof-of-Work network!
This June came the next step: an upgrade that lets developers program rules directly into Kaspa transactions. In plain English, that opens the door to things like escrow, vaults, native assets and financial apps without abandoning the PoW architecture Kaspa was built around.
And we’re already seeing the first signs of that transition. In August, builders began testing a Kaspa-native AMM, new token standards moved into public development, and the tooling for building these applications reached its first v1 release candidate.
Kaspa spent years trying to prove that PoW can be fast.
Can it now prove that fast PoW can actually be useful?
