trying to work out why I have spent so much time today looking at this. I think it is something about “the stuff that matters”. Even if onlyfor a moment these young people and we are in touch with what matters above everything else which is life with God and lived for God.
This remarkable photo @DailyMail shows how the French Police - funded by the UK - (and they definitely are stopping crossings) really are making it so much harder for parents and children to make the channel crossing. Make of that what you will!
Rather relieved by this article. I thought I must be the only person on the planet not to be overwhelmed by this film which seemed to me to lack the mystery of the original and left no room for the imagination. Thank you Emily Wilson. theguardian.com/film/2026/ju…

I had never come across the quote from Camus « La vraie générosité envers l'avenir consiste à tout donner au présent. » - true generosity to the future is to give everything to the present - That feels like a real gift at my time of life

The opening procession for Pope Leo XIV’s Mass in Lampedusa on the Fourth of July
“I have not come to give speeches, but to celebrate the Eucharist, the supreme sign of Christ's presence among us,” Pope Leo said ahead of the Mass.
“This is why we have gathered here: to draw from Christ the love that only He can give us, so that the world of today and tomorrow may be more human, for everyone.”
Last night’s @DepaulNightstop guest was from Ghana! So he has gone off to college a very happy lad!
When you are moving with devotional haste from one church to another on Good Friday and the Metro arrives as you arrive on the platform. That. @NclDiocese #Godishelpfulsometimes

I have come to Etty Hillesum late in the day, but this written from Holland in the 1940s says with great clarity what I think I have suspected for some while. It is much harder and more important to work with God on ourselves than to rail against others
Is the mChristian march stopped because it is Christin or because it is organised by UKIP?
Thank you @guardian for this story which shows us in the UK at our best theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…
Is it really safe to travel on @mymetro with people like this travelling?
If you can't find the words find the gift - why am I thinking about the sermon at Midnight Mass??
John Lewis’ 2025 Christmas advert is here! 🎄
This year, it tells a heartwarming story about a father and his teenage son (set to a 90s club anthem!). ✨

So important that we continue to note and celebrate the enormous amount of goodness and kindness in our communities
We’re so grateful for our wonderful neighbours. Most of the people on our street are older, so we don’t usually get many trick-or-treaters. But tonight, they phoned us to invite us round so our foster children could experience trick-or-treating — sweets and smiles all round.
Such a simple act, but it meant the world. This is what loving your neighbour really looks like. 🧡🎃

It is very good to have some positive stories of kindness to show that despite impressions there is a lot of goodness out there
