A brilliant basketball festival at @TheManorAcademy today. So many new skills learned and some very excited children who now want to play basketball in P.E. 🏀🏀
A huge thanks to @Giantsgraft for the skills session and refereeing our games!
@Peafieldwelbeck @plathoresby
Yesterday we learned about the history of Mansfield Woodhouse.
We learned all about mining and lots of children talked to their grandparents about it.
Check out these pit overalls, helmets and knee pads inside a mesh pit bag that one child brought in #beyondtheclassroom
We cooked our own pancakes and checked underneath to check if it had browned yet. This is how we checked if it had cooked yet. We evaluated it regularly and noticed that thicker pancakes took longer to cook.
🥞🥞
We also tried different combinations of sweet toppings to decide which flavour combinations we liked the best.
This half term in D&T we will look at receipts for savoury pancakes, try toppings on pancakes and design, make and evaluate our own savoury dish.
Watch this space 🥞
Pancake Day
Tomorrow we're going to write instructions about how to make a pancake. We will use imperative verbs such as: whisk, stir, weigh, measure, crack and add to make sure they 'command' the reader. 🥞🥞
These bird boxes were completed using recycled materials including a rubber hinge for the roof! @FHTDesignTech
Some very happy children taking home the bird boxes that they worked hard to make! @FHTDesignTech
Bird boxes are finally finished! Please help your child to complete any maintenance on their bird box and PLEASE send some photos of these hung up in your gardens 😁😁😁
Last day with this happy chappy today before he moves schools. He requested one last hold of Glenice (the class hamster). Good luck at your new school, you'll be super and we'll miss you!
Wow look at the length of the small intestine! We measured 9m on the Astro to show just how long it is 😁😁 #digestivesystem
This morning we had an Italian lesson from a child in class. He took an interest in languages after French lessons at school, decided to learn some Italian words at home and then shared them with the class! 🇮🇹🇮🇹 #beyondtheclassroom
Check out our up and coming scientists. A HUGE thanks to @SygnatureDiscov for the lab coat donations... The children LOVE them. We wore them yesterday when exploring the digestive system👩🔬👨🔬 #inspiringscientists #science #digestivesystem
From the stomach, the food pases through our intestines which are about 9m long. The nutrients pass out of the intestines and are transported around the body in the blood. We are mimicking it using tights (intestine) and a washing up bowl (the body).
