Headed out to Edward B Forsythe Wildlife Refuge recently hoping to pic up a few straggling Spring migratory shorebirds. After scoping through several species of tern/gulls off the shoreline, I notice one, unlike the rest. Turns out it was a Gull-billed tern. Made my day for sure.
Non-birding rainy day treat from, Central Park.
“The Mating Game”🐢
Take a moment to peek this extraordinary interaction between a pair of Snapping turtles at the Central Park, Pool. I was fortunate to be able to capture their mating ritual leading up to its climactic conclusion.
American Woodcock.
A city rare but annual occurring guest. This cutie showed up at midtowns Bryant Park last week. Much to the delight of NYC birders/photographers and parkgoers alike. @bryantpark @nycwildlife @americanwoodcock
Eagles on the Hudson🦅
Bald eagles are on the ice on the Hudson River during winter primarily to hunt for fish and conserve energy.
I was fortunate enough to observe and capture some of their behavior amid the fury of ice floes and deep freeze. What an exhilarating experience!
We’re only weeks away from the annual arrival of Northern Harriers and Short-eared Owls at Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge.
