Lukewarm take: the best war novels have a map, preferably at the front.

Lonesome Dove series, for me. Gus & Deets walked a few hundred patrols with me (in my mind). Deets for his scouting abilities to sniff out IEDs; and Gus for his coolness under fire in an ambush.

I’ve been doing research this week on the science behind Bibliotherapy. Had a great discussion with Hilary Lithgow UNC. She’s running an in person veteran book club for over 10 years.
If you start reading books again, you will feel at least a little better. I promise.

Confession: I like paper books because I write in the margins & keep an index of profound points. What type of reader are you? Physical only, ebook only, or mix of both.

Team - Thanks for your thoughts & votes! Thus far, @dgelliott00 made the best case for eBooks; someone said they also appreciate the ability to adjust the font face. Me personally I would take everything to Helvetica; titles & sub-titles in TNRoman.
