Tom DeLonge wrote "All the Small Things" in 1999 for a girlfriend who left roses on his staircase. The na na na's were a tribute to the Ramones. He made it deliberately simple so radio would play it, and it became blink-182's only top 10 hit, peaking at #6.
Then his life went places no screenwriter would pitch.
He married that girlfriend in 2001 and divorced in 2019. He quit the band in 2015 to chase UFOs full time, and for years he was the entertainment industry's favorite punchline. Except his company, To The Stars, released three Navy videos in 2017 that the Pentagon officially confirmed as genuine in 2020. By 2022, Congress was holding its first public UFO hearings in over 50 years, partly because a pop-punk guitarist refused to let it go.
Around the same time, his best friend Mark Hoppus was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. He beat it, and the scare put the band back together in 2022 after seven years apart.
So now it's October 2026. His hometown Padres are down 0-2 in the NLDS, facing elimination, and a packed Petco Park starts singing a 27-year-old song he wrote about roses on a staircase. He's standing behind the netting in a Padres hat, crying.
The girl is gone and the band broke up twice. The government eventually admitted he wasn't crazy. The three chords outlasted every bit of it.
He wrote the simplest song he possibly could, and it turned out to be the most durable thing he ever made.
Tinkering in LM Studio Bionic with qwen 3.5 9B in Omarchy on an 8GB TU104 is surprisingly quick and useful. This is fun!

It sounds harsh but I really don’t have much sympathy.
If you can’t ship a Halo that feels like Halo after a decade and a half, you don’t get year sixteen. You hand the keys over and you get the pink slip.
Sorry. Not sorry.
I think I've settled with CachyOS on my desktop and Omarchy on my laptop. I find myself wanting to navigate with a mouse at home, but absolutely love the keyboard-centric nature of Omarchy on my laptop.

Chappelle said “fuck Bill Maher,” in his special, even though Maher defended the comedians who performed in Saudi Arabia as progress. Maher did joke that if Dave was really freer there than in America as he claimed, he should try doing his Muhammad material. Obviously, that touched a sore spot. Dave ended up swinging at the entire cloud of criticism surrounding the festival while using Maher who had defended his going as a punching bag.
Marc Maron imagined Theo Von interviewing Hitler, a clear attack on Theo for humanizing Trump. But Trump had already been welcomed onto Saturday Night Live and Fallon. Don’t remember that part in his special. Theo also publicly said that he was willing to have Kamala on, so portraying the podcast as inherently fascist propaganda requires ignoring relevant context and believing Harris’ campaign lies that they weren’t offered to go on. The Hitler bit may work as comedy, but the moral indictment underneath it is swinging at a ghost.
Chelsea Handler attacked Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe for supposedly going to Saudi Arabia, even though Shane publicly declined and Tony wasn’t there. That isn’t criticism, it’s condemnation based on a false premise.
Comedians talking shit about other comedians is tradition. Comedians appointing themselves moral authorities over other comedians, claiming ownership of goodness, and distorting reality to make the prosecution work, is something different. They’ve become trapped in the same digital culture war they’re supposed to be able to see through: flattening people into symbols, omitting inconvenient facts and swinging at ghosts. Thats delusional troll shit. The joke is no longer exposing the distortion. The joke is serving it.

Oh noes!! The clowns have made a little website that rants left and right about the evils of "fashware" and capitalism and all the many (MANY!) people you have to boycot. And lots of non-Omarchy ones thrown in for good measure 🤣 stopomarchy.neocities.org/
Thanks to @davepl1968 I can check my balls! No head turning or coughing required!

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Barry Melrose.
Barry played parts of two seasons with Detroit and was a Calder Cup-winning coach with the Adirondack Red Wings. He would go on to have an immeasurable impact on the entire hockey world as a beloved TV analyst.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Melrose family and all who knew Barry. ❤️

Omarchy deserves a game library that feels like part of the OS.
I’m building Omakade: a fast, transparent, theme-native launcher with beautiful cover art, achievements, playtime, search, favorites, and controller support.
Steam first. Lutris and Heroic next.

To this day my brain still sees this as a significant amount of space. I mean, it's basically two 3 1/4" DSHD 1.44MB floppies!
