The South Point Complex is more than just a geographical waypoint! It's likely where the first ancient Hawaiians came ashore, where they fished these wild waters, and where they built a heiau to the fishing god, Kuʻula! thebillbeaverproject.com/202…

Most lighthouses have to cut through fog so ships can see, but the Ka Lae Light at South Point had an even greater hurdle: volcanic smoke! Nonetheless, this wind-powered, now solar-powered light has made it work since 1906! thebillbeaverproject.com/202…

Capturing those summer vibes at South Point! It's the southernmost spot in the USA and probably the wave-washed location where humans first arrived on the Hawaiian Islands! Aloha!

It's Throwback Thursday! Today, let's throw back to July 20, 1914 when ground broke on the Oklahoma State Capitol building! Today, this is the only capitol in the country that's surrounded by active oil wells! thebillbeaverproject.com/201…

What a difference a tide makes! One day, the trails and traps of Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park are completely covered up; the next day, it's all clear for exploring! When working with tides, be sure to block off enough time to see the highs and the lows!

Even though the exact meaning of its symbols has been lost to the ages, the 3,000-image Puakō Petroglyph Archaeological District is still one of the largest and most impressive petroglyph panels in Hawaiʻi! thebillbeaverproject.com/202…

It's Throwback Thursday! Today let's throw back to June 13, 2014, when I was on Landmark Expedition 82! Spanning five counties and 36 historical landmarks, this was actually a redo after I accidentally deleted my memory card the first time! thebillbeaverproject.com/tag…

Just south of the Puʻuhonua runs a mile-long trail along the coast, connecting to the village of Kiʻilae! Today, it's a wide path with ramps, but before the trail was installed, the trek was perilous with a rope climb up a cliff!

Are you a lady who likes pork? A fella who wants to fish all day, every day? In ancient Hawaiʻi, you could have violated kapu, a crime punishable by death... unless you braved the treacherous path to Puʻuhonua O Hōnaunau where a kāhuna could absolve you! thebillbeaverproject.com/202…

It's Throwback Thursday! On July 6, 1777, the British retook Fort Ticonderoga after 57 pieces of artillery were taken away to rescue Boston! They held it until the end of the Revolutionary War, and a whole lot of good that did them! thebillbeaverproject.com/202…
