The French security forces (including private contractors) are strangling, beating, abusing and using lethal weapons against students among whom are an estimated 1.2 million 4th generation French-Algerian teenagers. History repeats itself - this is what happened on October 17th 1961:
"Unarmed Algerian Muslims demonstrating in central Paris against a discriminatory curfew were beaten, shot, garotted and even drowned by police and special troops. Thousands were rounded up and taken to detention centers around the city and the prefecture of police, where there were more beatings and killings."

I have been very frustrated at he BBC's coverage of the settler attacks on the olive farmers and the assault on Heidi Levine. They have all the time stopped short of talking about the regularity of these attacks and the role of the IDF and the links of the attacks to state policy.
They can and should do better. in fact they did this morning but on the world service not R4 or TV news. at 8.30 they had an excellent interview with Heidi Levine's son and he made the points I wanted to hear., like it was awful for his mum but it's what happens to Palestinians without anyone paying attention all the time. He spoke about how the tear gas was aimed at the famers not those attacking them. She sounds like one great person. She intends to go back despite what she suffered. Her son described the injuries the thugs inflicted.

One thing not made clear anywhere was that Heidi and the other journalists were there because the settlers press released that they were going to have a big confrontation giving time and place
