BREAKING: At 1:30pm today on Chicago’s Southside, a shooting took place in broad daylight while a baby was in the back seat. 2 people were shot! Everyday we talk about Abolishing ICE rather than the 150 people shot in barely a month this year. Abolish senseless violence! 😡

Hypocrisy on full display.
There was Mayor Johnson standing in the cold to protest the ICE shooting in Minneapolis and calling for its abolition while saying nothing about Kiara Jenkins, 36-year-old Black mother of five, shot five times and killed on her way to church.
Neither the Jenkins shooting nor recent violence in Chicago's West and South Sides which saw multiple fatalities across the Lawndale , East Garfield Park, and Woodlawn neighborhoods brought the Mayor, CTU, pastors or activists out into the cold to protest.
Neither has the carnage against Chicago’s school children. In the last two years, 504 school age children 17 years and younger have been shot and 107 killed including 23 murders of children 12 years old and younger.
Where’s the outage, the protests, the same sense urgency.
Silence from the Mayor, the CTU and their supporters.

In the first 27 days in Chicago, 108 people have been shot, 26 of them dead. Our mayor is marching to abolish ICE, how about you work to abolish the killings in our streets. 95% of black killings are done by black people, black ppl need to focus on resetting the culture not ICE!

@JamesTalarico: “The billionaires own the algorithms and the news networks. They have created for-profit platforms that divide us on an hourly basis — by party, by race, by gender, by religion. They elevate the most extreme voices very strategically to provoke our outrage, because that leads to more clicks, which leads to more money for them.
They are selling us conflict right into our bloodstream, and they’re calling it connection.
And I think it’s left people starving for actual community.”

“This recent West Point graduate is Alex Idrache. He grew up in a slum in Haiti, and he tells the story of how U.S. soldiers were deployed to his neighborhood following the earthquake there several years ago. He says their presence was the first experience of "hope" he recalls in his childhood.
He remembers looking at his dad and asking him who the people were that were helping. His dad looked at him and said, "They are American soldiers." He looked back at his father and said, "One day, I will be an American soldier." His father knew the situation in Haiti was unworkable and tried for several years to obtain a visa to come to the United States. After being denied for several years, he was finally granted a spot in Baltimore. He purchased a ticket on a boat for his family and left Haiti. They arrived and Alex, remembering his dream in the slum several years prior, looked for a way to join the U.S. Army. He found a national guard program that allowed him to join the Army in exchange for citizenship. He didn't hesitate.
After a series of fortunate occurrences, he was given one of the few spots at West Point for prior enlisted soldiers. Despite his severe lack of formal education, he graduated as an honor graduate (top 5% physically and academically) and the top student in the Physics Department. This picture was taken just prior to tossing his hat in the air, the realization of a dream that began 10 years ago in a slum in Port-au-Prince.”

He's an emotional leader of our team and he's been great, and I'm proud to be battling with guys like that out here."

“June 6th, 1944” - Normandy, France
Boots in the sand, silence in the sky,
a storm of courage where young men died.
Eighty-one years, yet still we pray—
for the peace they earned that day on the bay.
Steel met storm, and hearts held fast,
freedom’s breath born from their last.
We stand on shores their valor saved—
and whisper thanks above each grave.

How do you see this ending? The clinical take: countries agree to way lower tariffs than the fictional, inflated ones presented yesterday so basically no change. Companies pledge expanded U.S. factories and on-shoring that never materialize. “Reciprocal” tariffs mostly get lifted, everyone declares victory, and within weeks it’s back to business.

I haven’t felt this miserable in years.
Shits just hard sometimes. You have tough seasons. Bad losses. And what makes it harder is you don’t know when it’ll end.
But know - it will end.
So for anyone going through it right now, you do the only thing you can do, keep fighting.

Why are people such in an uproar that @elonmusk, on behalf of the American people, is doing an audit on our government spending?
Is there anything that he and @DOGE has identified that you said “wait, I’d like for my hard earned tax payer dollars to go towards that.”
A $45 million dollar scholarship program for students in Burma?
Let’s be real - the uproar isn’t about this effort being able to see sensitive information of the American people. Or that Elon is somehow using this information for his own personal advantage.
Heck, the bureaucracy is ALREADY using your information for their own personal & financial advantage. Don’t kid yourself.
The uproar is that there is such rampant fraud and waste in our government that people responsible or those who benefit don’t want to be caught!
I say let it all be exposed. Republican or Democratic driven (or otherwise).
Americans have spoken at the polls. This program was no surprise. We want transparency & accountability. 🇺🇸

The things people on social media/politics try to make relevant is hilarious.
Not everything warrants our time, attention , and energy.
Not everything is a story.
- Go lift
- Call a friend
- Read a book
- Send an email
- Wrestle with your kids
- Take your wife on a date
- Strum on the guitar
- Do the dishes
- Play fetch with your dog
Anything, literally anything else.

Startup Strategy is Mostly Stupid
A smart, consulting friend called me looking for a job in startups.
Me: "let's go! what are you looking for?"
Him: "Strategy roles around Series A stage."
Me: "You know strategy is a useless job in startups right? Nothing matters outside of writing code and selling."
Him: "But I can't code so I need to do sales?"
Me: "Yes or you're useless to the company. No one cares about pretty pitch decks in a startup... or if they do, you're in the wrong place."
This sounds harsh.
But to me strategy is the most bullsh*t overused word in startups. Strategy is what MBAs talk about in fake startup classes.
Early stage "strategy" is the 60 minutes you spend on a Sunday night talking to your co-founder ahead of a crazy week of execution ahead.
Strategy is anti-execution.
And it's a luxury hire for post product-market fit companies with money printers.
Hiring strategists is an easy way to guarantee failure.
