Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski: "We love our fans. Our fans are so supportive, but we knew we would likely need to be on a silent count."

Of course that's your contention. You just finished your first fine-tune on some open video model, Wan prob'ly, and so naturally you think it's just matrix multiplication until next month when you get to Anthropic's introspection work and get convinced the model can notice its own thoughts. That'll last until sometime next year, then you'll be in here regurgitating the J-space paper about a global workspace in the middle layers and the reasoning nobody trained into it.
Ben Affleck says AI is simply matrix multiplication, linear algebra and floating point calculations, and however convincingly it sounds like a person, it has nothing to do with thought, humanity or feeling “Nor do I believe, and I think it’s important to draw the distinction between what AI does, which is simply predict the next token or the next word in a sentence, then add that word on, run it back to the machine, do a lot of computation and pick the next word." "That is a very different thing than sentience or thought. And I think we need to be really clear about that because it can be convincingly, in an illusory way, sound like thought or like a person." "But let’s be real clear. This is matrix multiplication. This is linear algebra. These are floating point calculations. It has nothing to do with thought, humanity, or feeling.”

It’s really cool that a celeb can speak competently and passionately about a technical subject like this but everyone lauding him as genius is really telling on themselves. This is “‘mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell” type stuff. The bare minimum of understanding you should have to participate in technical conversations about it.

Alright plans ready to go. Guys gonna fall out of his seat. Only one step left… the clues 😈
THE SIX FLAGS TRAGEDY IS VERY STRANGE. The man who allegedly died on the roller coaster had these photos on his facebook. 😳 "rolling" papers next to a coaster "roller coaster" and he posted in July a photo with his wife holding a shirt that says "the fall off." Is this just a coincidence?

The problem a lot of academics have on Twitter is they treat the landscape of ideas as territory to defend, not something to explore

Guys like this will never be smart because they fail to entertain the possibility that 1) technical people did those things too 2) even so, technical discoveries and exposures are not much different from artistic ones. Like this guy probably has no idea there’s loads of scienceslop. The bar for what gets published and parroted is not at all what people think. You need taste to properly make sense of it. Taste is an algorithm for exploratory search in high dimensional space. It’s asking will I like this? What will me liking this say about the world at large? About what other people think about me? About what I think about myself?
Tech people will never have taste because they didn’t spend their formative years discovering new bands, flipping through old magazines, watching obscure movies and reading books that weren’t required for English class. They don’t understand taste is cultivated over a lifetime.

Togedemaru has many surprising and unique traits and behaviors.

it is so incredibly obvious to me that there is no future in building intelligence into individual products. I don’t want to use a different chatbot in every app. I want my personal agent to be able to discover and talk to the tools i happen to be using.

the amount of bureaucracy you have to navigate to get adhd meds is honestly so hilarious. like keeping someone’s xanax in a haunted house

it seems pretty obvious that we're going to need an actual empirical science of memetics now. Who's working on this? Who's interested

Crazy thing to say to your share holders lol
Tucker Kraft on the fans booing: "That's pretty tough. Like everyone pictures Lambeau Field and not boos. I don't picture boos. I picture my home stadium. That's tough. It's pretty disappointing, especially for a home opener. It's pretty disappointing. It's not going to help us win. Like I don't know what people think that's going to rally us or something like that. But that's -- we're grown men. We're mentally strong enough, capable enough to get back on the field and play ball. But it'd probably much easier with the 70,000 people behind us rather than opposing us."

they did it. they invented thinking fast and slow from classic scifi novel "thinking fast and slow"
Jev + Astra beats the Ender Dragon in Minecraft in 8 minutes 43 seconds! ⏱️ Cost less than $1 ($0.01 Jev, $0.96 Astra) I open sourced the code and explain the harness setup below. This type of movement is only possible with Jev's near instant decisionmaking, and some continually learning skills from Astra.

It's great obviously that people, you know, grow over time and all that. But if you were once aggressively "full of shit" such that you have to do a mea culpa about it, maybe you are a moron and your current thinking is also weak.

Clearly the Clay Institute didn’t actually want people solving the Millennium problems. Why else would they let the prize depreciate every year?

“These materialists have organized their life around the possibility of an unprecedented future event, the fools! Can’t they see they’ve picked the wrong one!”
It really is an amusing role reversal as a religious person to have to explain to materialists that no, the machine god is not real, and no the end is not nigh. Chesterton was right - the first effect of not believing in God is to believe in anything

Yup when I think about when the US government was most candid with and accountable to the American people, I think about the Manhattan project.
We did not outsource the Manhattan Project to private companies. If this risk is real, the AI labs should be nationalized immediately. It’s the only way they can be at all accountable to the people.

Also we did outsource many parts of the Manhattan project to private companies! Kellogg designed K-25, Kodak ran Y-12, DuPont ran Hanford
