Out today in @npjDigitalMed: Assessment of ownership of smart devices and the acceptability of digital health data sharing. nature.com/articles/s41746-0… In this work we explored what motivates people to use & share data from #wearable and #digital devices.
In this population, we found:
* those identifying as female, Hispanic, GenZ (age 18–25), w/higher education, or employed full-time were most likely to own a wearable
* 50% of smart device owners were willing to share and 32% would consider sharing their data for research
Findings from this study can be used to design both equitable and cost-effective #digitalHealth studies, leveraging personally-owned #smartphones and #wearables in representative populations, ultimately enabling the development of #equitable digital health technologies.
