While yesterday was Suicide Prevention Day, let's take a moment to remember that every day you should try to reach out to those you love.
Even on your worst days with someone, make sure to always remind them how much they matter to you. You never know what could happen or how much someone hurts.
I want to take a page from Chio and share my story too.
I grew up as the youngest sibling in my house, one that was constantly forgotten and not given the love or opportunities a child should. I remember never having a Christmas or a Birthday. I remember watching my mother go through multiple marriages and wondering who all the strange men she'd bring home were, only to be told I should respect them as my new father. Not love, respect and obey them.
I remember the wounds. The bruises. The knife entering when I was reminded my life meant nothing to that monster.
A monster who I remember the day she passed, I didn't know how to feel. I thought that I was in the wrong for feeling relief, rather than sadness.
My friends became my family. But as I grew older and found many of those people I tried to have in my life were only using or manipulating me, it made me reach a dead end. To be told you're appreciated for your talents, not your friendship. To be used for hosting games, creating things, working hard for them, but never actually given the love back or being heard when I needed someone. Or worst off, when trying to find who I really was and wanted to be, people who said they had my best interest only told me what THEY wanted me to be, rather than encouraging my own desires.
I eventually broke, and over three years ago I thought about giving up, and drove into traffic. The only thing stopping me being the thought of hurting another and making THEIR life bad by colliding being what stopped me.
When trying to take control of my life by ending it, I stopped for someone else. A bitter irony. But one that reminded me just how much I always listen to others and not myself.
I'm thankful though I let that stop me.
I wanted control of my future. I wanted to make decisions for myself. I wanted to stop pleasing everyone while giving up my own time, work, money, and well-being.
It's been over three years, and this is only a few pages of my story. But as I continue to remind myself that I have control of my future, and I should cherish myself more, be kind, and love who I am and want to be, I've found happiness.
I've found friends.
I've found safety.
I found hobbies to enjoy.
I found who I want to be.
I've found a career.
Never give up on yourself. Just when you think you've lost everything, you still have your future. And please, be kind to yourself. Remember the life you have is yours to control.
Yesterday was world suicide prevention day. I wasn’t sure if I should share anything, since I think the strongest thing I could share is my own story, but seeing others share theirs encouraged me to.
I grew up in many houses, but the worst years were in one far away from my extended family. I was homeschooled, didn’t know how to make or keep friends, and my parents were afraid of me and my siblings being outside without supervision but didn’t want to provide said supervision. So I grew up feeling alone, isolated, and horribly unloved. I couldn’t tell you how many times I hysterically ugly cried, wanting desperately to make things better for myself but feeling like I didn’t know how and that the authority in my life didn’t want to listen. I used to ask myself why the universe hated me so much to give me a life like that. And there was one time I tried to take myself out of it.
I’ve been in some abysmally dark places and the “light at the end of the tunnel” never seemed to exist no matter how I looked for it. But even still, one day it did get better. Because I spent so much time online, I found VTubing, and it gave me a place where I could learn how to be myself without being put down. I used to listen to narrated AITA Reddit stories on YouTube, and in a weird way, they made me feel connected to others. I learned much of different life situations through them, and they helped me see I wasn’t being treated great at home. And eventually, I ended up meeting a long distance friend who would offer me a room when her roommates moved out, and that was my chance to escape.
Leaving was a huge risk, but it was the decision that pulled me out of that nightmare. I pulled myself out and could finally set on the road to healing and learning how to really be an adult and actually have a life. I’m grateful everyday for taking that risk. It changed my life in so many ways.
The point in sharing all this is to say that even if you feel you’re hard stuck in an inescapable hell, even if you’ve tried for years and you truly believe there’s no way out, there very well could be. Things could get better. I’m grateful everyday that my attempt didn’t work, and that I never attempted again. I’m grateful I kept fighting for myself. Even if nobody in your world currently will fight for you, you can always fight for yourself. And someday you could meet others who will join you.
If things are hard, please know that. Know that things truly can get better. Know that even if people around you are ignorant and neglectful of your needs, that doesn’t mean you’re worthless.
You deserve that life where you can feel safe and happy. Please keep fighting.

Listen, I get that having people come in chat and announce that a celebrity passed away isn't exactly the best social etiquette but the fake outrage is a little much.
God forbid you have a chatter mention a major current event they just saw....
