Sad times
The @BBC has announced that the Droitwich Transmitter on 198kHz will be permanently closed down during 2026. The Scottish Long Wave transmitters at Burghead and Westerglen will also be turned off.
The RSGB and the BBC Amateur Radio Group are planning to mark this occasion on the air. More details of how this will be achieved will be available soon. Read more via rsgb.org/main/blog/news/rsgbβ¦

South Bristol Amateur Radio Club will, propagation permitting, be active from Saltford Brass Mill as GB0SBM. Most likely to be on 40m SSB if the propagation is with us, otherwise it's anyone's guess.
Exactly 50 years ago today I sat wide-eyed in the school hall watching the very first commercial flight of Concorde take off from Heathrow for Bahrain on the TV on a trolley. Today I have been to @BristolAero to see G-BOAF, and to reflect on half a century of aviation memories
So the #SouthBristolMassive are on a standing patrol listening to @bbcradiobristol waiting for shenanigans, and who should pop up at 10am? Mr @paristroyradio so let the battle of wits commence!! 2 minute readiness please @westcountrybird @G7KNA @nightqueentrudi

I've just had a few enjoyable days with my baby sister, who came south to help me celebrate my birthday. Although a lifelong admirer of Concorde, she'd never seen one in real life. I was delighted to be able to remedy that on Tuesday @BristolAero
I forgot to post this when I took it just over a week ago. I was picking up some particularly nasty waste from a site I've been to many times, but had never noticed this a couple of doors down. The site of the first @RNLI HQ. #SavingLivesAtSea
1/2 @BBCRB Good morning Caroline and the team, Greg from Knowle West here. Could I get a plug for South Bristol Amateur Radio Club please, we're putting on a special event station today at Saltford Brass Mill. It's part of an international event this weekend where amateur,
Look at what the #SouthBristolMassive found yesterday in Newton Abbot @JoeSims10 We are holidaying in Devon and found these beauties @HouseofMarbles yesterday
Just enjoying my morning cuppa, and if @JoeSims10 doesn't pop up on the national news on the tellybox talking about the Downs footy league!! Go Joe and go Bristol!!
It's a lovely afternoon in Fleetwood, and as a bonus, we're watching the really rather fabulous @RNLI Fleetwood crew @FleetwoodRNLI practicing their skills in the harbour.
I've just watched @Scotlandteam against @aus_rugby at Murrayfield. What an absolute banger, best match I've watched for a long time, and such brilliant rugby from our Celtic cousins in the North!!
