Just to remind people of this.
To clarify. I was not the Garda on the case these anonymous accounts are mentioning. There was more than one Garda Niall O’Connor at the time.
My solicitor is dealing with this defamation and I won’t comment further at this time.
I have identified two accounts on this platform @nwl88444048 @keira_con who have published untrue statements about me today and on 13 September.
The statements are completely untrue, it is not me & it is defamatory.
My solicitor is now handling this defamation on my behalf.

At this time of year, there are always several articles calling on us to remember the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier - and rightly so. But let us remember the unsolved murder of Belinda Pereira too.
No one was ever charged with the murder of the 26-year-old woman who was found dead in an apartment in Dublin on December 29, 1996, just six days after Sophie Toscan du Plantier’s murder.
I remember the case well because the only photographs available at first were faded and grainy. They were carried in newspapers alongside captions that summed up this woman’s life with nothing more than a lurid description of her brutal end.
I remember thinking that she had not only been robbed of her life but of her identity. Not to mention, her dignity.
Much was made of the reason for her visit to Dublin from London on Christmas Eve too.
One newspaper described her as a Sri Lankan “vice girl”. We might be more politically correct these days and say she was a “sex worker” but that does not take from the fact that we still tend to reduce murder victims to a few handy adjectives and a summary of their last violent moments.
When the gardaí renewed their appeal for information on the 18th anniversary of Belinda Pereira’s murder, they did something that should be a matter of course — they highlighted the lasting grief of those left behind. There was also hope of a breakthrough. The gardaí said that the person or people who killed her might have spoken about what had happened, “perhaps expressing sorrow and regret at having left a young woman in the way that they did”.
Nothing has come of the appeal to date. As we approach another anniversary of her murder, the very least we can do is to rescue her and all those women murdered in 1996 (19 of them) from the brutality of their end, and remember them for who they were and all they might have been.
