New paper with my dearest friend,
@KenzoNera!
We propose that multi-study articles can hardly achieve conceptual novelty and statistical consistency while remaining transparent.
Fulfilling two of these criteria considerably reduces the probability of satisfying the third one.

New Paper! Ever wonder whether AI generated news can reduce perceptions of bias? We find news developed by AI may reduce media consumers hostile media perceptions.

Out in Nature Human Behaviour 🔥
Can people tell true from false news?
Yes! Our meta-analysis shows that people rate true news as more accurate than false news (d = 1.12) and were better at spotting false news than at recognizing true news (d = 0.32).

‼️ NEW WORKING PAPER ‼️
Can a conversation with ChatGPT reduce certainty in false or unsupported beliefs? If so, is this because AI as a source is particularly persuasive? OSF preprint: doi.org/10.31219/osf.io/2vh4… (Feedback welcome!)
Here is a not so short 🧵:

An analysis of ~30M tweets by @knutson_brain et al. found that:
-Biased news sources post more content containing high-arousal negative emotions (e.g., anger, outrage)
-High-arousal negative content is more likely to go viral
-The link between high-arousal negative content and virality is stronger for biased sources, but it's been increasing for balanced sources over the past decade

People tend to be aware of how well they discern true from false political news. But this metacognitive insight partly differs across political lines. When? See 🧵 below 👇

Anti-vaccine conspiracy beliefs can reduce vaccine intentions, but can vaccine hesitancy also increase conspiracy beliefs?
Our new paper explored whether fear can increase vaccine hesitancy, making conspiracy beliefs more appealing. (Hint: Yes)

🐐Scapegoating and conspiracy theories🐐
An outgroup perceived as threatening will trigger intergroup conspiracy beliefs.
But what about diffuse threats not attributable to any outgroup (e.g., economic downturn)? Will intergroup conspiracy beliefs act as scapegoating processes?
