Absolutely devastating for the city. Acknowledging how many international locally-rooted orgs we've lost since Brexit, COVID, economic collapse & rising fascism. We are losing infrastructure that makes our city Replaced by copy & paste "units" in a faux development narrative.

Such a shame for a festival that brought such joy @fabricdance @BhamDanceFest
THE LAST DANCE FOR @BhamDanceFest💔
We are sad to announce that 2022 was the last edition of BIDF due to the removal of Birmingham City Council funding.
We say goodbye to our signature dance festival after 15 years, which took place across Birmingham’s theatres, squares & parks.

Terrible news for #birmingham and for dance artists and audiences in the city and further afield. Credit to everyone who worked so hard to make this a signature event and to those who fought for its future. Sad times indeed #culture #notanicetohave

A BIG LOSS FOR BRUM
Big reason I ended up in culture from the 2010 edition. Going to have to travel a lot more to see international work outside of the city. Brilliant performances in public space and a great introduction for my little one: exposure and participation. – at Walsall, England

It’s a sad loss for the organisation, dancers, choreographers, production crew’s, marketing, security, & everyone else’s involved in making Birmingham Dance Festival happen. It will have a huge impact on jobs & loss of revenue to the city. #dance #artsandculture

Incredibly sad news for the city, one of my favourite festivals to shoot and a great team to work with 💔

Devastating news to see an incredible free and accessible way to experience dance in the city end. To see such an asset to Brum & the wider midlands disappearing... the arts is hurting... Sending love to prev colleagues who had spent so much time building this to what it was <3

That's very sad we've enjoyed coming to a number of events over the years
LAST DANCE FOR BIDF 💔
We are sad to announce that 2022 was the last edition of BIDF due to the removal of Birmingham City Council funding.
We say a fond goodbye to our signature dance festival after 15 years, which took place across Bham's theatres, squares & parks.
We’re so incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved – and we extend our heartfelt thanks to audiences, artists, staff and partners who have worked with us over the years.
