Without government intervention, this will mean food price increases. I don't think people truly grasp the vast political, economic, and social consequences of the accelerating climate emergency. We are not ready — no anticipatory action. No planning. We're in deep shit.

James Hansen, the NASA scientist who first warned Congress about climate change in 1988, published a new paper this morning. His conclusion: 2026 is forecast to be the hottest year ever recorded in the entire history of instrumental temperature measurement. Not second hottest. The hottest. And he says 2027 will be hotter still, because the rate of global warming has literally doubled since 2015. The last time a monster El Niño hit the whole world simultaneously was 1877. Florence Nightingale wrote to the Lord Mayor of London calling it "the most hideous record of human suffering the world has ever seen." That was a natural event on a cooler planet with zero fossil fuel emissions baked into the baseline. We are not on that planet anymore.

Renewables pushing fossil fuels out of electricity generation is a global phenomenon.
Don’t listen to the fossil shills and cranks in GB who tell you we are in our own.
They just want to make more money from fossil fuels by spreading lies and misinformation.
Replying to @DrSimEvans
Led by “extraordinary” growth of solar, clean energy pushed fossil-fuel generation into reverse
Solar growth of +600TWh in 1yr is the largest ever rise – from any source – excl rebound yrs

Huge sympathy for farmers and hauliers during this oil crises. But unfortunately their cause has been hijacked by a mother crew of neo- nationalists, illiberal democrats, anti-vaxers, racists, pro-Russian useful idiots and the Petroleum lobby. Same forces that got trump in power!

More calories less nutrients
Oil lobby hides how Climate change is paradoxically making food more calorific but less nutritious. With rising atmospheric CO_2 levels acting like a "junk food" fertiliser. Crops grow faster but protein, zinc, and iron levels have dropped by 10%

You're quoting a MINING GEOLOGIST who sits on fossil fuel company boards to 'dismantle' climate science. That's like citing a tobacco executive to disprove lung cancer.
Yes, it's been warmer before - during periods when sea levels were 20+ feet higher and human civilization didn't exist. Congrats, that's not the flex you think it is. The issue was never 'has it been warm before?' - it's that current warming is happening at a rate 10x faster than any natural cycle in the paleoclimate record, and it's driven by US.
'We're just warming from the Little Ice Age' - Natural forcings since 1950 would have produced COOLING. The warming is us.
Plimer hasn't dismantled anything except his own credibility. But you wouldn't know that because you get your science from YouTube clips instead of journals.
Geologist Prof. Ian Plimer comprehensively dismantles the human-induced climate change narrative.
"It was much warmer [than today] a thousand years ago."
"And then we entered the Little Ice Age... And since the Little Ice Age ended, what do you think happened?"
"It's going to warm up, isn't it? And that's what's happened."
"So the real question is, which part of the modern warming is of human origin, and which part is natural? Because we are not as warm as in medieval times, or in Roman times, or in Minoan times."
Archie O'Donnell retweeted
False and misleading. The Ice Ages were 5-14°F colder. Last time Earth was this hot was ~125,000 years ago. If current warming continues, by 2100 we will reach temps higher than 3 million yrs ago, before humans existed

Think about this for a second.
Thousands of PhDs around the world - people who spent 8-10 years in school and make $60-80K running climate models - all independently "made up" the same crisis?
Meanwhile, the fossil fuel industry pulling in $4+ trillion a year in revenue is the one telling you it's all fake. Ask yourself who actually has the financial motive to lie here.
The scientist driving a 10-year-old Civic to their university lab, or ExxonMobil - which, by the way, their own internal research in the 1970s-80s accurately predicted the warming we're seeing today, and they buried it?
As for "wrecking the economy" — the US clean energy sector added 142,000 jobs in 2023. Texas leads the nation in wind energy production. The energy transition isn't Germany's model or nothing. And the cost of doing nothing isn't zero — ask insurers why premiums are skyrocketing in Florida, or farmers dealing with intensifying drought cycles. Those are real economic costs happening right now.
"No crisis" is a comfortable position. But comfort isn't an argument.

‘Cause Faux News told you so!
The network that's paid out billions in defamation settlements for lying to your face, that's your trusted source on atmospheric physics?
Meanwhile, the actual climate scientists, you know, the ones with PhDs who make less than your local plumber, they could walk across the street tomorrow and triple their salary working for ExxonMobil. Shell, Chevron, BP, they'd all love to hire someone to tell you everything's fine.
But instead, these underpaid nerds keep showing up to labs and field stations to tell you something you don't want to hear. For terrible pay. In a career where the public thanks them by calling their life's work 'horseshit' from a couch.
Ask yourself this: what's more likely - that thousands of scientists across 195 countries, who can't even agree on where to eat lunch, are all running the same secret scam for grant money that barely covers their rent…
…or that a trillion-dollar fossil fuel industry, the most profitable business in human history, might have a reason to convince you it's all fake?
You're not a free thinker. You're the cheapest audience money ever bought.

Idiot - a 0.00014% concentration of caffeine (one cup of coffee) can physically rewire your wee brain’s alertness, so 0.04% of CO_2 acts as a powerful thermostat for the planet.
In biology and science, Trace amounts arent harmless—they are the control knobs for the entire system.
CO₂ is not a pollutant and never has been.
For all of you Orwellian brainwashed masses out there who believe that it is, you probably didn’t notice when they redefined the word to mean the exact opposite of what it has always meant.
“Pollutant” has always meant something that causes immediate or near-term harm: sewage fouling water and spreading disease right now, smoke choking lungs and blackening cities today, lead scrambling children’s brains in real time, asbestos scarring lungs after years of heavy exposure.
No substance in history was ever labeled a “pollutant” solely because computer models — or prophets of the ages — projected tiny theoretical harms 100–300 years in the future, especially when the substance delivers huge, immediate, obvious, measurable, and measured massive gigantic benefits like dramatically more food for the entire world of human beings.
CO₂ is the first and only case treated this way: the 2007 Supreme Court ruling and 2009 EPA Endangerment Finding relied primarily on long-range climate-model projections of distant “welfare” effects to justify the label under the Clean Air Act while ignoring or downplaying the well-documented, real-world greening of the planet and enormous increases in crop yields directly caused by higher CO₂ levels.
• Satellite data (NASA, NOAA, CSIRO) show global leaf area increased by ~5–14% since the 1980s, largely due to CO₂ fertilization, equivalent to adding a continent-sized area of green vegetation.
• Controlled experiments and field studies (FACE experiments, meta-analyses) confirm C3 crops (wheat, rice, soybeans) gain 15–30% higher yields at 550–700 ppm CO₂, with less water needed due to improved efficiency.
• Global food production has risen dramatically alongside rising CO₂—calories per person up ~25% since 1960s, famine deaths plummeted, despite population doubling.
CO₂ is plant food. It is breath. It is life. It is the single biggest driver of the ongoing global greening and the reason billions of people have more food on their plates today than ever before.
Not poison.
Not pollution.
Never has been.
This is just the modern version of 2+2=5. But my guess is that you have never even read the book, so perhaps I am addressing the wrong crowd here as you all scratch your heads and say, “What is he talking about?”
If you still buy the modern 2+2=5, go back to your love affair with Big Brother.

I am too exhausted to produce a video factchecking Lucy's BS... so here is this fact check:
"CO₂ is not a pollutant"
Let's start with the science Lucy has no background in:
The sun heats the Earth's surface with shortwave radiation. The Earth then radiates that energy back toward space as longwave infrared radiation. CO₂ molecules absorb that outgoing infrared energy, specifically at the 15-micrometer wavelength band, and re-emit it in all directions, including back toward the surface. This traps heat that would otherwise escape to space. More CO₂ means more energy trapped. More energy trapped means higher temperatures. Higher temperatures mean stronger heat waves, worse droughts, more intense storms, accelerated ice melt, and rising seas.
This is not theory. John Tyndall measured CO₂'s heat-trapping properties in a laboratory in 1859. Svante Arrhenius calculated the warming effect of doubling atmospheric CO₂ in 1896. Every satellite observation of Earth's outgoing radiation since the 1970s has confirmed that CO₂ is absorbing exactly the wavelengths the physics predicts. You can literally see the "bite" CO₂ takes out of Earth's outgoing energy spectrum. It is directly measurable. It is not debatable.
Atmospheric CO₂ is now over 420 parts per million, the highest level in at least 800,000 years of ice core records, and likely the highest in 3 million years. The last time concentrations were this high, sea levels were 50-80 feet higher than today.
Yes, plants need CO₂. Water is also essential for life and it still causes floods. A substance can be necessary in one quantity and dangerous in another. That's not a contradiction. That's chemistry.
Under the Clean Air Act, any airborne substance that endangers public health and welfare is a pollutant. The Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that CO₂ qualifies and ordered the EPA to evaluate the science. The EPA spent two years doing exactly that - with NASA, NOAA, and reviewers from multiple federal agencies. The conclusion: CO₂ and other greenhouse gases endanger human health. That was 2009. The science has only gotten stronger since.
In 2025, the National Academies of Sciences said the harm is "beyond scientific dispute."
"Made our lives more expensive" — The repeal raises gas prices. 25¢/gal by 2035. 76¢/gal by 2050. That's from the administration's own Annual Energy Outlook. The "overreach" was saving you money at the pump.
"Helps everyone" — 58,000 early deaths. 37 million asthma attacks. Up to $4.2 trillion in climate damage by 2055. Per the Environmental Defense Fund, using the EPA's own modeling tools.
"Government overreach" — It was the EPA following a direct Supreme Court order to review the science. They did. The science was overwhelming. Every court that has reviewed the Finding has upheld it.
"Common sense" — The repeal was justified by a secret report from 5 hand-picked climate skeptics who met 18 times in secret. A federal court ruled it was produced illegally. 85+ scientists rebutted it. The DOE's own reviewers called it "misleading," "inaccurate," and "cherry picked." The EPA finalized the repeal anyway.
Lucy has no scientific background whatsoever. She is a reality TV personality confidently telling millions of people that a gas with directly measurable heat-trapping properties, confirmed by 166 years of laboratory and satellite observations, isn't a pollutant. That's not common sense. That's misinformation from someone who has never been asked to show her work.
"CO₂ is not a pollutant" - The Supreme Court ruled unanimously in 2007 that it is under the Clean Air Act. That's not a narrative. That's law.
"Government overreach that made our lives more expensive" - The EPA's clean vehicle standards saved Americans thousands per year in fuel costs. The repeal raises gas prices 25¢/gal by 2035 and 76¢/gal by 2050. That's from the administration's own Annual Energy Outlook. The "overreach" was saving you money.
"Helps everyone" - The Environmental Defense Fund's analysis, using the EPA's own modeling tools, shows this repeal will cause up to 58,000 premature deaths, 37 million additional asthma attacks, and up to $4.2 trillion in climate damage by 2055. It will cost Americans up to $1.4 trillion more at the pump.
"Greedy fossil fuel companies aren't plotting to pollute" - The repeal was justified by a secret report from 5 hand-picked climate skeptics, most with fossil fuel industry ties, who met 18 times in secret. A federal court ruled the report was produced illegally. The EPA finalized the repeal 13 days later.
Lucy has absolutely no scientific background to be posting about atmospheric physics or climate policy. None. She's a reality TV personality from Breaking Greenville repeating fossil fuel industry talking points and calling it common sense. CO₂ has been a measurable greenhouse gas since 1859. This isn't new. This isn't controversial. This is undergraduate-level science that she has never studied.
CO2 is not a pollutant! Reversing the Endangerment Finding is common sense and helps everyone.
I’m so sick of the narrative that greedy fossil fuel companies and billionaires are plotting to pollute the world for the sake of profits. The truth is that this Endangerment Finding was a major government overreach that made our lives more expensive and handicapped American industry.
Repealing it will help all of us.
