Banking access is pretty much a requirement to live in the modern world. The powers that be are 100% aware of that. Unelected officials who oversee our largest payment processors and international banking giants hold so much power that not only are they able to compel censorship on fantasy and art platforms like Pixiv, Clipstudio paint, but they are also able to debank and restrict "problematic" people from access to financial services. People like the Trump Family, Marine Le Pen, Nigel Farage... and hundreds more people have experienced debanking, where their bank access has been revoked, and their ability to buy and sell has been severely impacted. You can disagree politically with these people all you want, but the fact of the matter is that this kind of authoritarian abuse of power by unelected officials doesn't land on just one party. Many others are on the other side of the camp, pro-Palestine supporters who have also been de-banked. The problem is far worse than just problematic anime, fiction, stories, or illustrations that land in the world of taboo... It means that even powerful people can have their access to money restricted, and regular people like us would not be able to do anything if the international banking system came after us. They are more powerful than sovereign nations when it comes to "managing their risk", being able to compel censorship from a nation full of journalists and artists... and the worst part about all of this is that all the "alternatives" have become regulated to death, making it impossible to escape from this situation.
