Hi all. I’ve moved over to 💙 Sky. Please find and follow me bexcartwright.bsky.social & I will follow back. Be lovely to find all the wildlife and conservation folk over there! 🐞🪲🐝🪱🦎🦔🌱🦌🐜🪰🐛🐌🦇🐦⬛🦉🦊🦡🪺🦅🕷️
This plant is driving me a little nuts. There are several growing in a 20m stretch. Can any helpful botanists shed any light please? Growing on edge of forestry track, acid, dry, rocky area. North Wales. #wildflowerID #wildflowerhour

10 a day keeps the doctor away! Bumblebees show remarkable consistency in their foraging breadth, regardless of species, site or season🐝What could be driving this behaviour? More in our new paper: rb.gy/gtrxvp with @NdeVere @IanVaughan21 @Zwickynova @AER_ESE_BES

As #NoMowMay begins please take a minute to enjoy what can be achieved. Grandfather kept the sides of the drive like a lawn and 20 years of an annual mow rather than a weekly one this is the result (20th April) @LEAF_Farming @NFFNUK @FarmWildlifeUK
Bumblebee queens are emerging. I keep finding them resting on the ground. Several Early Bumblebees today and yesterday this Heath Bumblebee - Bombus jonellus. Check out the pale hairs on the hind leg. @BumblebeeTrust
Three oil beetles seen over three days. Two Black Oil Beetles (m&f) and today a Violet Oil Beetle (m). Nice to have both species so close to home #OilBeetleHunt @OilBeetlesUK

We need to be strategic about where we plant trees. Rigorous assessments and safeguards are needed to protect important habitats, like flower-rich grasslands from being planted on.
Fair incentives will ensure we restore the diversity of habitats that nature depends on.
