...At Belmont and Clark tonight, for a while, people were not allowed to go north, south, east, or west by police order. That resulted in a big clusterf*ck as several hundred people walked in circles trying to find a way out.
Prediction: The person who came up with this plan holds the rank of deputy chief or higher.

...CPD is also very quickly disrupting every twerk-off we passed tonight, whether they be in the traffic lanes of a street, on a sidewalk, or in a parking lot.

So CPD's post-Pride Parade strategy this year is to keep people OFF the 900 block of West Belmont entirely — the block that has, in recent years, turned into an hours-long street party.
So, now, hundreds of people are walking and twerking on all of the side streets instead.
Fantastic News! (If you squint)
Our main writer/VO artist/editor @Inner_Qi has been let go from her day job.
While this makes it a bit of a difficult time, it *also* means that she has much, much, more free time to polish Between Heartbeats episodes and ad to our episode queue.

We're here, we're queer, and we're chugging away at getting you more episodes of Between Heartbeats. Life has been throwing obstacles our way, but this podcast's heart is still pumping.
Here's a taste of what's in the works. Is that some music by @austinmwav I hear?

It's important to remember when most people are calling Chicago a "violent hellhole" they are specifically calling "Black Chicago" a violent hellhole and are asking for greater suppression of Black people in Chicago as a whole, particularly those who dare go to non-Black areas.

I’m sorry, but anyone happily waving American flags right now is either a gleeful white supremacist or is gleefully uninformed.

Americans’ false belief that this country has been on a steady progression toward granting equal rights to all since its founding is exactly what inspires complacency in this hour as the Supreme Court replaces the constitution with themselves.
Ahhh that’s us! Thanks for the shoutout, @SuperSuitsPod -we’ll reach out when we need legal support. Prooobably soon 👀

there are people who have paid on their student debt for DECADES and wound up owing MORE. the loans are so predatory that they are meant to never be paid back. even federal loan interest rates are astronomically high. it’s a joke.

In the final three major decisions of the Supreme Court's term, the same 6-3 partisan-divide, conservative majority ended affirmative action, wrote an exemption into non-discrimination laws, and struck down a major Biden administration policy to relieve student loan debt.
There's a new character on the horizon!
Name: A Non-sequiter
Gender: A pastiche with a switchblade. A gorgeous, violent, promise. A theramin with Teeth
Profession: Troubleshooter.
Confused? Stay Tuned.
Happy Pride!
It's the end of June but the pride don't stop! Happy Pride, from the Ace-est, most well-balanced, frequently annoyed telepath you'll ever meet. She truly puts the 'mental' in 'judgemental', but she's a great friend!

Every day I find a new human rights violation at my job and every day I escalate it and every day someone shrugs and says there’s nothing they can do and fighting unethical behavior shouldn’t be this hard and exhausting. I truly don’t know what to do anymore.
