It's exciting that we have five major AI chat competitors with: - ChatGPT - Claude - Gemini - Meta AI - Grok Why can't we have this kind of balance with mobile operating systems? Why do we live and die by Apple and Google's duopoly?

When we bought betterlegal•com in 2017, they wanted $20k. We kept walking away until we were able to buy it for $2,200. Starting with a •io or •co is a great way to start as long as you know the •com is available to buy. If the business works, buy the •com
The answer: We paid $7,500 for youform·com It was listed at $25,000, but we were able to negotiate the price down to $7,500. It seemed like a decent price for a 7-letter .com domain. Why not stick with .io? The .io TLD is fine, and I'm sure Youform would have been fine sticking with it. But the .com gives a ton more credibility IMO. Especially for less technical people, they might have never used a .io website in their entire life, which might cause them to trust it less. It also signals to people that Youform is legit and that we're here for the long haul (and not some temporary side project). It also made the most sense to buy the .com relatively early in the Youform journey. If we had waited until Youform was making a bunch of money, then the price may have gone up significantly.

Love to see reviews about how we're providing a better service than a multi-billion dollar competitor. Doesn't matter how small you are, focus on providing the absolute best product you can and carve out a niche.

She crushed the LSAT and was accepted to top schools. Instead of becoming an attorney, she developed a best-selling LSAT prep book and $1m+ tutoring business. But how do you scale a one-on-one LSAT tutoring business?

How to avoid this fate--a brief thread from a (really, verifiably) licensed and insured residential general contractor.
A seemingly reputable roofing company removed my roof, then left and a rainstorm came in and flooded my home doing 80k worth of damage. And it turns out the roofer was not insured or licensed as he claimed to be, and can't pay for it. We are in for a battle and, at the moment, displaced from our home and draining our bank. I'm selling a package of basically every book I have made on a PDF -- you name your price. I feel better about this than donations, but we need help, so if you want a 14 gig zip file of my life's work and want to help my family in this bind, please check out this link on @Gumroad enicolle.gumroad.com/l/narsw…

A fun AI-ad video project I worked on recently. I really liked how it came out, with a humorous 3-shot vignette of famous billionaires followed by a business angle. However, this one really got me thinking about generative AI likenesses. Yesterday, @MKBHD released a video on OpenAI's new Sora model and said, "You shouldn't be able to generate people's likenesses. Like you shouldn't be able to make a politician look like their doing something on video." I found myself completely disagreeing with his take. There's already a legal framework in place to protect artists using public figures through parody and commentary. Of course these tools can be abused, and bad actors should be stopped, but simply saying we must avoid likenesses in our work is a massive mistake. Imagine you're using MidJourney to create a character for a project, and 4 months later your client receives a cease and desist from an obscure actor that "kind of" looks like the generated character you made. If the genAI community runs from this issue, I think it could really stifle creativity in the future. I've spoken with a few art directors that work with large studios, and they're also nervous about using AI generated characters for this reason. I don't know the exact answer. I'm trying to navigate it like everyone else, but we shouldn't establish a precedent of self-censorship simply because it easier. It will bite us in the future. It's not the play. Anyways, just my take. What do you think?

The @BetterLegal team is cooking up some elite level AI tools for the average business person. Question: Did anyone in the public school system ever teach you how to read contracts? Seems weird considering our world uses them as the foundation for commerce....

I worked on a bunch of projects before BetterLegal. Did all of them do well? Nope. Would I have a $900k ARR company without those failures? Also nope.
