When I hear people say, I must fly my person out to get the best medical treatment, I will just smile. Without missing words, Nigeria has one of the best brains in the health sector.
I was part of a surgical team that worked on a 2yr old child with anorectal malformation(imperforate anus, meaning had no Anus). It was a 24hrs surgery because it was 2 babies we operated on.
This surgery was done by my chiefs(Nigerian pediatric surgeons, led by a professor of pediatric surgery).
The surgically created an anus for these babies.
LISTEN LET NO ONE DECEIVE YOU, WE HAVE POWERFUL HANDS IN OUR HEALTH SECTOR, Just that the government needs to do more especially to equip the hospital.
I sincerely thank the management of the facility where the surgery was done, it was a federal medical center and the Cmd was very proactive, He is a darling, He came multiple times to check on how the surgery was going and bought us amazing meals in-between surgery.
After that day, I fell in love with surgery.
A BABY WITHOUT ANUS, WENT HOME WITH A BRAND NEW ANUS.
NIGERIAN HEALTH PRACTITIONERS ARE THE BEST 🔥
I sincerely thank my chiefs who led the surgery and the whole team, they did an amazing job.
Consent was duly taken, no names mentioned, no face attached.
This is to motivate everyone out there to seek help within the confines of Nigeria, there might be some bottleneck but look beyond and you will get the best.
N/B: SURGERY IS VERY EXPENSIVE FOR NOW.
Abeg Tram can be childish abeg 😒
Sheba tried to tell you her own opinion of what you did , you said she’s talking to you like her son.But now you feel like you should drop your opinion for bluethopia and she should listen .Now you’re forming amnesia about the hug #bbnaija

Let me give you some context from the doctor’s POV.
When I was an HO in paediatrics, friday clinics started at 9am.
On Thursday, I’d go to work by 8am, close at 4pm, then continue call from 4pm to 8am on friday morning.
From 8–9am, I would have to quickly do ward rounds for my patients in the ward, collect samples, chase lab results, set IV lines, give IV meds, etc.
Then, I was still expected to be in clinic by 9am to start seeing patients.
In all of this, I would rush back home for about 15–20 minutes to just shower and come back to the hospital.
Breakfast?…forget that one because, no time.
But God forbid I got to clinic at say 9:15am.
You’d hear snide remarks like…
“See the time she’s coming to clinic.”
“We’ve been sitting here since 7am but look at her strolling in by this time.”
“She’s taking her time because she knows we have no choice.”
“This doctor doesn’t have regard for people’s time.”
“We have other places to be.”
Nigerian patients really do not know what happens behind the scenes.
