A round of congratulations to Carolina Forward's endorsees @pittmanfornc @Oxford_Cohn @BethHelfrich and @PratherForNC. They overcame a brutal Republican gerrymander to break the supermajority in the NC House, and hand @JoshStein_ a sustainable veto.

Campus organizers worked their asses off in North Carolina, and it mattered: we ran programs at Davidson, UNC Asheville, and Warren Wilson that contributed to the impressive, vital wins by @BethHelfrich and @PratherForNC -- and their talented managers!

“I think a lot of people end up asking the question, what can I do?” said Ms. Helfrich, 43. “And lo and behold, what I can do is put together a coalition and build enough momentum in this one district.”

On this Memorial Day, our family’s first without Cooper, I’m acutely aware that every lost service member is a whole, beloved person. A person whose laugh, or sense of adventure, or bear hugs are missed every day.
4/5 My stepbrother’s case was one of them. He died of service-related head and neck cancer on June 2, 2023, after serving the Army for over a decade in special forces. He was strong and courageous, goofy and brilliant, stubborn and encouraging.
Thanks for having us, @work4democracy and @ForwardCarolina !
Our hearts are full after yesterday’s hugely successful fundraiser with @ForwardCarolina featuring @BethHelfrich @LorenzaForNC and @PratherForNC // 🧵
