I’m not a vegetarian or a vegan, but @BeyondMeat and @ImpossibleFoods have the two best burgers on the market. If you have a chance open your mind and try them.

Perhaps you've noticed the bins of persimmons outside of @BerkeleyBowl. And if you're curious about this orange fruit, read "persimmoning" by @lemay lauralemay.com/blog-archive/…
Good morning everybody. We're seeing a lot of you in masks today, & we're glad you're all taking precautions. As a reminder, it's advisable in times like these to get masks with a rating of N95 or higher. If you are able to, please give masks to those less fortunate as well.
A snarky response would be to point out that the Prius/NonPrius ratio in our parking lots is higher than just about anywhere else. A genuine response would be to point out that it industry marketing to say individual consumers fix climate change by changing their own behavior 1/n
Ok @BerkeleyBowl, do your part to prevent further climate deterioration: close your parking lots.

at the intense urging of auto manufacturing. The fact that people participate in these things is not their own fault, but you're absolutely right that if we are not at least *committed* to changing the way we interact with these systems, we also bear some responsibility 4/4
A quick addendum: We certainly acknowledge that the producer/consumer dichotomy is not exact, and that Berkeley Bowl bears more responsibility than individual consumers because we are closer to the producer side of the scale. See our thread on #zerowaste xitter.cf/BerkeleyBowl/status/10…
Berkeley Bowl is committed to #zerowaste goals. To that end, we've made more of our disposable containers compostable, & encourage customers to use for-here plates & silverware.
Here's a brief list of food that will become far more scarce as the climate deteriorates:
1. Everything
2. No really it's an ecological disaster barreling down the mountain.

persimmons are special around year-end for a number of other reasons.
1) they represent a good harvest
2) the persimmon tree symbolizes longevity
3) persimmon (柿) can also be written as 嘉来, meaning 'happiness to come' (yes, another pun)
In a world that needs to feed 7.7 billion people, agriculture is always relevant and vitally important. And facing down catastrophic climate change means it will only become more important to look at long-term effects and farm sustainable crops in sustainable ways.

We have been informed that the agricultural cycle of nuts and legumes is NOT what this month is about and we are deeply, profoundly sorry.
What do you mean #NoNutNovember? Nuts (and often legumes) were traditionally a late-Autumn crop until agricultural advancements made them available year-round!
