A letter to The Irish Times: Sir, – Prof Frank Murray (Letters, February 19th) opines that the new health warnings on alcohol will benefit consumers. By this he appears to mean nothing more nuanced than turning us into non-consumers. No thank you. –Yours, etc, JOHN DUFFY, Chairman, Beoir

'Usual howls of protest' - what a patronising and flippant response from a state-funded organisation. The financial burden of these unnecessary labels (found nowhere else in the world) will also severely damage export prospects for Irish breweries, stymie growth, and affect jobs.
