I had a productive meeting with Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi yesterday.
Somaliland has already established itself as a reliable partner for the United States on a range of issues, from countering terrorism to protecting shipping around the Horn of Africa. We discussed further strengthening the U.S.-Somaliland partnership.
I have been pushing the United States to deepen our partnership. I am committed to securing American recognition of Somaliland’s sovereignty and, in the meantime, I’m urging the State Department to stop treating Somaliland as the same as Somalia. The U.S. should establish a region-specific Travel Advisory specifically for Somaliland, which would reflect the reality on the ground.
I look forward to continuing our work to advance our shared security interests.

I am profoundly grateful to President Trump for his confidence in me and for the extraordinary honor of being selected to represent the United States of America as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
President Trump understands that American strength is the foundation of American peace.
His leadership has reshaped the Middle East, demanded more from our partners, stood firmly with our allies, and restored the understanding that when America speaks, the world should listen.
I have believed in President Trump and his America First vision from the beginning, and I am deeply humbled that he has entrusted me with the responsibility of advancing that vision in one of the most strategically important relationships in the world.
As a soldier, I served our country in the Middle East. Now, President Trump has called on me to serve there once again, this time as a diplomat.
I know the region.
I know what is at stake.
And I know the enormous opportunity before us.
Under President Trump’s leadership, we have a historic opportunity to deepen the U.S. Saudi partnership, strengthen American security, advance our economic and energy interests, confront our common adversaries, and build a more peaceful and prosperous Middle East through American strength.

The Houthis are a foreign Iranian puppet that have nothing to do with the indigenous people of Yemen.
The creation of a new Iranian terrorist colony on the Gulf of Aden will not be permitted.
The Free Yemen from Iran Act will support the people of Yemen’s efforts to liberate their own country including through security assistance to Yemen’s government & new biting secondary sanctions on middle men, financiers and foreign countries facilitating Houthi activity.
The cowardly Houthis hate the people of Yemen and are hated by the people of Yemen. They will go to the trashcan of history like brutal Assad.

Having served in the region both in combat as an Army officer and for two years as a diplomatic liaison in the Kingdom, I understand the strategic importance of the partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia and the profound responsibility of this position.
Service has always defined my life.
My immediate family has given more than sixty years to our military.
My brother, sister, and I graduated from West Point, served in combat, and, at one point, were all deployed to Iraq simultaneously.
I am deeply grateful to President Trump for his confidence in me. When confirmed, I will serve with humility and honor, advance his vision of peace through strength and deepen this vital partnership.
