Congressional hearings aren't just for lawmakers. They are a core way for the public to learn what the government is doing in its name. That function matters most when we are at war. Delaying public oversight weakens accountability when it is needed most.

During the Renaissance, people in Venice would vote by dropping little balls into an urn.
The Italian word for “little ball” is ‘ballotta.’
Now any kind of secret voting, by ball, piece of paper, or voting machine, is called a ‘ballot.’

Political violence is contagious. It is spreading. It is not confined to one side or belief system. It should terrify us all.
The foundation of a free society is the ability to participate in it without fear of violence. Political violence is always an attack against us all. You have to be so blind not to see that.
