Yaeli Martinez was removed from her mother’s custody after her mother declined to treat her as a boy. In state care, Yaeli was affirmed as male and given testosterone. She later died by suicide at 19.
Now, @SenEricSchmitt is introducing legislation bearing her name to protect parents from being penalized on those grounds.
