Congrats @KingJames - the greatest to ever play this wonderful game. My brother and I grew up watching him play at the @OHSAASports state finals all 4 years when he was in high school and we always knew he was going to be special. Sharing a photo I took from his senior year #goat
Shoutout to Coach Reichle!

Find a someone trained in strength and conditioning if you need help getting this movement started. Don't ever skip #legday and get those squats in!
Where to start - air squats (no weight), goblet squats, front squats, overhead squats are all great places to start. Go low and slow and work your way up with weight as you are able to. I've always been a supporter of low weight high repetition with great technique.
Back pain - let's face it - we all sit too much. Squats can help strengthen your core muscles (rectus abdominis, transversus abdominis) as well as your postural stabilizers in your back (spinalis, longissimus, and iliocostalis) to help minimize back pain.
Improvements in bone density - weight bearing exercise is essential for good bone health especially as we get older.
Cardiovascular health - resistance and strength training are super important. Squats are a great first place to start to help improve your cardiovascular health: increase your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and build muscle mass to regulate blood sugars.
Mobility - in addition to strengthening your legs, making you a better walker, runner, and overall athlete, squats can also help increase flexibility and range of motion in the hips and ankles.
Overhead squats can be a challenging maneuver to learn, start with the regular squat first and build your way up. I use a 2'' PVC pipe instead of weight to get more repetitions with overhead squats.
Improvements in balance and stability - muscles getting stronger include your quadriceps, hamstrings, and gluteus maximus/minimus. Squats also engage your core muscles, making them a great full-body exercise, especially the overhead squat.
Squats can solve a lot of problems - here's why you should do some squats most days of the week and why you should consider some #thursdaymorning squats.
