Any #microscopy friends have any suggestions for a water stage cooler/pump? I'm specifically interested in something to slowly flow water through a light sheet imaging chamber so it will need a very slow and consistent flow rate. Maybe @ZakSwartz ?

Finally, we identify and describe differences in the excitable F-actin dynamics found within the cleavage furrow to those found outside the cleavage furrow. The video below shows raw F-actin labeling in magenta and recent net F-actin assembly in green.

Once present, excitable F-actin waves undergo stereotypical changes that correlate tightly with markers for cell cycle entry and exit.

Our latest preprint from the @BementLab: Here we combined high speed live imaging with computational analysis to investigate the natural history of cortical excitability in developing frog embryos. The movie below shows an embryo labeled for F-actin.

A short detour here to give a shout out to @AniMichaud1 of @BementLab who will talk about waves in oocytes during "Frontiers in Cytokinesis" on Wednesday at 3:03! Be sure to join both of us in the Rho GTPase poster session next week

What a good looking group of Quantitative Cell Biologists! Then there’s @BementLab off to the side... thanks for putting together a fantastic Modeling Cell Biology Hackathon @WallaceUcsf! #nsffunded #qcbnet

Cortical actin waves in a dividing Xenopus laevis embryo. Acquired in collaboration with @henryhetired of the @huiskenlab at @Morgridge_Inst. Hoping to get two color next time, but feeling pretty good about our first attempt🤩!

Very relevant work by @BementLab and Bieling Lab in @eLife
1. showing that RhoGDI extracts active #RhoGTPases from membranes in vivo
2. this is required to shape Rho activity patterns

3. GDI binds Rho at the membrane before extraction (2-step extraction mechanism?)
4. also includes nice analysis of "activeness" of constitutively active Rho mutants (very useful reference)
