Today my book Cities of Strangers is published, without the rituals that usually follow cambridge.org/core/books/cit…
It was, therefore, a real pleasure to be invited by @ConversationUK to write about one of its strand which seems relevant:

It looks cool
Excited to hear that my Cities of Strangers, the book which began with the Wiles Lectures @QUBelfast @medievalqub and which taught me much about citizenship and belonging - their attractions and limitations - in pre-modern Europe's cities. cambridge.org/core/books/cit… @Medievalists

A thread on stories @kathmandupost published last year which put the paper and its editor at odds with the Chinese embassy whose officials are probably not used to seeing critical news reports about China being printed in Nepali outlets.

This needs to be said over, over and over. Corbyn and his coterie, aided and abetted by Momentum, have betrayed class, party, country and Europe. Political ineptitude on a grand scale, Yes, the heavens wept today. One day it can and must be different. But without them .
A greater fool than the most deceived Tory voter speaks:
President Franklin Roosevelt led the US out of the Great Depression.
But he had to take on the rich and powerful to do it.
He knew that when you’re serious about real change, the profiteers of a rigged system won’t give up without a fight.

Useful for Nepali historians, too, esp to see how the Indian press covered 19th and early 20th c. Nepal. Here's translation of a 1910 Marathi article, from a paper edited by B G Tilak, very critical of Chandra Shumsher 'donating' Sanskrit manuscripts to the Bodelian libraries.
