Security called me at 6:12 AM today. "Patch every PHP server immediately." I asked what happened. "Two critical vulnerabilities. Remote code execution. No authentication required." Cool. How many PHP servers do we have? According to inventory: 12 According to reality: Nobody knows. We found one running WordPress. Three running old internal tools. One under someone's desk. Two inside vendor appliances. A forgotten employee directory from 2016. And a server named: PHP-OLD-DO-NOT-TOUCH Naturally, that one runs payroll exports. Then we found a PHP 5.6 box. I asked who owned it. The documentation said: BRIAN. Brian left in 2019. We called Brian. He said: "Oh wow, that's still running?" Excellent. By 8 AM, leadership joined the incident call. CEO: "Can hackers actually get in?" Security: "Potentially yes." CEO: "Without a password?" Security: "Yes." CEO: "Then why do WE need passwords?" Not the lesson. Finance asked if we could wait until the weekend to patch because downtime affects revenue. Security explained that the alternative was letting strangers execute code on our servers. Finance asked for a cost comparison. At 9:17, someone suggested temporarily taking the vulnerable websites offline. Marketing refused. "Our campaign is live." So for the next hour, the company officially decided maintaining a landing page for 20% off webinar registration was more important than preventing remote server takeover. We finally patched everything we could find. Then our scanner discovered another PHP server. Hostname: TEMP-PHP-2014 Uptime: 4,512 days. Nobody knows what it does. Nobody owns it. Nobody can shut it down. But every time we block network access, the warehouse stops printing shipping labels. Security has classified it as critical infrastructure. It is running PHP 5.4. The vulnerability has existed longer than half our employees. The emergency patch took four hours. Finding out what PHP actually runs took eleven. The internet isn't held together with code. It's held together with servers everyone is afraid to turn off.

I love that Google DeepMind has kept Gemini’s quirky, funny vibe with Argon. It always makes me laugh. Check the 2nd reply, LMAO. Brutally roasting 3.5

110,409 downloads in 9 days. I still cant believe this number. On 4 Oct I uploaded an uncensored Qwen3.8 Flash-Next GSQ-RCO for Strata. I thought maybe 200 people would try it. A few friends, some people from my replies. It was 110,409. And the best thing here is not mine. The weights are from ISTA-DASLab, they made the quants. The direction is from Huihui. The engine is Strata by @coldniko. My part is a 480 KB file and a weekend of measuring. A lab in Austria, a guy who wrote an engine, a guy who found a direction, and me with 4 old cards in an apartment. None of us work together. Nobody asked for permission. Each one built on the open work of the others, and 110,000 downloads came out of it. This only works with open weights. And it means there are a LOT more of us than I thought. Thank you to everyone who downloaded it. Thank you @Alibaba_Qwen for the weights. I am just getting started. Download it now: huggingface.co/alesha-pro/Qw…

Just checked, it actually works. This is insane. Mom, can we get RTX 5070 to run Qwen-3.8-27B locally ? We have Qwen 27B at home. Qwen 27B
no config. no key. nothing chat with open models, zero setup ssh chat.hf.co

Where we see evidence that mathematicians are more interested in the welfare of mathematicians than the improvement of scientific knowledge.
NYU math professor Tristan Buckmaster says OpenAI’s Tuesday drop of 722 AI-generated math papers wiped out entire research programs: “This recent dump of papers on Tuesday destroyed the careers of early career mathematicians.”

The most profound paper of my PhD so far. We truly did something special to make LMs play/explain chess, needing both architectural & algorithmic innovation (natural-language analogue of the Alphazero algorithm) + applicable to many other domains. Please read on and share! 1/10

Gemini-4 Argon with a 1 million output limit, possibilities are endless to make the world a better place. Let's start with the most important one. George R. R. Martin: "I need another decade." Argon: thinking_high = true max_output_tokens = 1,000,000 The Winds of Winter -> Finsihed A Dream of Spring -> Finished 14 appendices -> patches the Fuchsia kernel while waiting.

Stop evaluating models on one-shot prompts when you clearly have zero clue how real engineering works. Synthetic leaderboards are a joke, but the "crowd consensus" is just as cooked. Most people are out here crowning the next best coding model off a single vibe-check prompt in a web UI, completely blind to latency, iteration loops, or actual codebase integration.

X edit came to the rescue. Sorry, I completely misread the tweet. In the reply where I was tagged, I initially missed the context, but after carefully reading it (which I apparently forgot to do, thanks to AI), I realized it was about how this scamster used to communicate with me and @HARVIS_ and share ideas. Yeah, that guy @kickasstrader is AWOL. Quick backstory: he used to have the same account on investing .com, which was an MP related forum before X existed, and then he joined X. Never knew him personally, only through online discussions.
Brief History of Scams on Indian Fintwit There’s a Scam story floating on Twitter today. To the new ones here: The first ever Scam on Fintwit was done by @KickassTrader in 2016. Collected money for webinar, which this person never conducted. Amount estimated was between 3-5 Lacs. This Modus operandi was then adopted by quite a few after that in a run up to 2020, especially catfish. Post 2020, the mechanics changed and the scale became much larger. The screenshot era entered the frame.
