POKROVSK: Ukrainian units successfully repelled Russian attempts to advance near Shakhove, Fedorivka, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Pokrovsk, Kotlyne, Udachne, Filiia, and Novopavlivka. Several contacts were ongoing as of late 15 JAN. Fighting in Myrnohrad remains particularly intense and fragmented, with opposing positions frequently separated by only tens of meters. Ukrainian forces also conducted effective counter-battery and interdiction fires, including Grad rocket barrages against Russian troop concentrations in the Shakhtarsky neighborhood. Sustained Russian small-group infiltrations may eventually place pressure on Ukrainian supply lines into Rodynske and Myrnohrad, but at an exorbitant cost. Ukraine continues to maximize the advantages of defense in a complex 3D urban battle space. As Russia is compelled to press attacks, it exposes tactical units to both environmental factors and the attrition inherent to maneuver and logistical operations across open terrain. The overall balance of attrition strongly favors Ukrainian defenders.
